Off the Beaten Path
Reviews

This place is wonderful and has great people working there, wonderful menus (I love the 7 layer bars!) and this was actually the place I found my favorite book series! (Warriors by Erin Hunter, I recommend it if you like cats, fantasy stories, and action.) This is a place we HAVE to stop by every time me and my family go to Steamboat, and I think most others will agree.

nice and warm coffeshop and bookstore

With the owner's daughters working there this summer, the service could hardly be sweeter and the menu includes fresh fruit smoothies and hot soup plus the usual great espresso, bagels, and dessert. All the good food and good books plus free wifi and plenty of places to sit, including outside, make this one of my favorite places in Steamboat Springs to while away an hour. They've also got a great used book selection -- just bought a hardback copy of Keith Richards' "Life" there last night for $8, and it looks brand new.

As a writer, this was the kind of bookstore I could find myself spending lots of time in! It was charming and cozy with all the right amenities. It had a great coffee bar as well as a special nook just for the kids. My kids would have loved having a place to explore books here. We were on a ski vacation and stumbled across this gem the day before we left. When we visit next, it will be one of the first places I go rather than the last. It is a great place to meet the locals and support their wonderful community.

Nice place, OK coffee, but the barista was not terribly friendly.
