The Golden Horseshoe
Reviews
I don't normally go to The Golden Horseshoe for food or ice cream. I was lucky enough to catch Billy Hill and the Hillbillies once before they left Disneyland. Anyway, the ice cream is good, but the service is really slow and the lines are long. Everything is overpriced, but that's just Disneyland for ya. The decor is really neat though, like you're in a real old west saloon. I've never been lucky enough to sit in the box seat (yeah, like the whole 2 times I've been there).
Food: the crispy chicken salad gets 5 stars, but the current show, "The Laughing Stock" acting troupe, is an insult to Walt Disney's memory. This is Walt's favorite spot in Disneyland, a place we have always gone to confident that we will see top notch, though incredibly silly, comedy and musical acts. We will never go again. We walked out in disgust as a burly man, dressed in drag with a red wig, on tried to make lame jokes and insult overweight, unattractive women. We were appalled at how insensitive and even creepy this act was. The whole premise of the show was about actors getting ready to do a show and nothing was remotely funny - nobody was laughing. If it's supposedly OK to dress as a woman, why is this considered comedy? The place was half empty at lunch time when it's usually standing room only. They have to have one of the group out in front barking to get people in. I miss Billy Hill & the Hillbillies, they have been discontinued. Oh, the piano player was good - I give him that single star.
Love this place. The ice cream is amazing and can't beat the live show. If you're looking to rest your feet, wanting some ice cream, and cool down, then this is the place to go to.
Really miss the Billy Hill and the Hillbillies show ... the new show was sub-par for Disneyland. Food wasn't great for the price, lines were difficult to navigate. Disappointing visit here.
The food for some reason is subpar, but the atmosphere and theme are great. If you are going to dine here, then plan to see one of the great shows that they offer. It's a ton of fun and will always make me laugh. But plan to buy food from somewhere else (The French Market maybe?) and then head over here for some golden entertainment.
