the Comedy MIX
Reviews

Yes there was a long line and even though we had called ahead for reservations, we still had to stand in it....BUT....I had the best time out I've ever had. The MC was great, the comediennes were so funny that by the time the headliner appeared on stage, it seemed like the audience was already a little tired from laughing and clapping so hard! It was great to experience my first comedy club with my family. I can hardly wait to go again. I've truly never laughed so hard in my life. Please consider taking a chronically ill person or a cancer patient to Comedy Mix. Laughter truly IS the best medicine!

Thursday night was fantastic. No line to get in, first night for this weeks fresh acts, and the service was prompt! We didn't try the food, but from others around us it appeared as typical comedy club cuisine: generous portions but nothing special to write home about.

The staff here were all friendly. A bit of a production to get in, waiting in a long line before they filter everyone through, but it maximizes the space so I get it. The drinks are expensive, but so are all comedy clubs. Their liquour license must seemingly end early too because they did last call fairly early into the final acts set. The comics were great and atmosphere made for a fun night.

Phone staff was good when calling for info. I appreciated knowledgeable and friendly staff. Placed reservations for the 10:30 show. Arrived at 9:30 as directed and found out theComedyMix was in the basement and started down the stairs as the first show people left up the stairs. As we descended it smelled like we were entering a Gym, a sweaty, stinky, muggy Gym. Got down stairs fine, lined up in the short line, bought the tickets and then was directed to the queuing area while they straightened and cleaned the theater between shows. The queuing area was an empty Hotel meeting room. 60% of the lights were burned out or off. There was a little bit of light as you entered and some chair sprinkled around and a bit of a roped off area near the door. A girl selling 6 dollar Growers and beers stood in the light. It felt what I imagine an AA meeting to be like, or some kind of Amway high pressure sales meeting was about to happen... but with beer. So after laughing off the bizarre queuing area we decided to go stand in the dark, creepy corner by the ropes so we could get good seats. The doors opened and the security guard guy with no personality asked us how many and proceded to signal another man who was going to lead us to our seats. FROM THIS POINT THINGS GET BETTER! The guy taking us to our seat was full of personality and kind. I don't think there are too many bad seats but ours were great. Small tables, chairs typical comedy club style no big deal. Full bar, slightly over priced drinks as to be expected and standard pub style food. Wait staff was good. The show was great. Headliner Ivan Decker was hilarious but the entire show was fantastic including the evening host. Leaving was easy, climbed out of the depths and into the open air of Downtown Vancouver.

It's the best comedy club in town, straight up. What more do you need to know?
