The Fireside
Reviews
Stopped into The Fireside last weekend to check it out and it was very nice inside. I had a couple of Crown Royal Coke's. The owners were really nice. Me and my nephew had a really good time. We will go back next year during Cranberry Fest in Stone Lake, WI.
My wife and I discovered The Fireside a few years ago while cruising around on our motorcycle. We stopped in and chatted for a while with the (then) new owners. We learned that the owner-chef had trained at a culinary school in Chicago. Both husband and wife were most pleasant. We went back on Saturday evening (Sept. 21, 2013) for our anniversary dinner. The first person we met was the woman (the co-owner) with whom we had talked a couple years ago. We recognized her and started to make some small talk, telling her that we remembered her from our previous visit. Instead of welcoming us and thanking us for our return, she cut us short and remarked that the hostess would be right with us. At that point, my wife and I felt a bit unappreciated. The Fireside menu is a bit limited. And so is the wine selection, at least to the extent that certain wines are available by the glass. We have no complaints about the food, as it is the best we have found in the area. The dessert options, however, were disappointing. The service was quite acceptable and our waitress deserved the nice gratuity which we left for her. The dining room decor needs some updating, but hopefully this will come with time. We have no difficulty with rating a restaurant as 5-star, but such places are indeed rare. We would have rated The Fireside as 4-star had it not been for the very lukewarm greeting we received from Erica, the co-owner.
By far the best restaurant in Hayward. None of the others, and we've tried them all as we are Chicago transplants, come close. We've experienced nearly all of the menu items and have never been disappointed. The service is impeccable, as is the cheery disposition of Erica, behind the bar. The snapper is one of our frequent entrée favorites and the fried avocado appetizer is stupendous--make sure and ask for it crispy!
Must start with the Escargot appetizer.... My favorite food in the whole world is the Risotto. This is a wonderful restaurant and the chef is TOPS!!!! We also love Erica who greets everyone with sweetness and style!
Wowza what a great find. Leek & onion tart was good then onto the tenderloin which melted in your mouth. Chef has a very interesting and diverse. Only issue was wine service was slow and wasn't opened to breathe
