Awesome food, great quantity and super prices! Excellent, just excellent!

August 2014 - Ate dinner, about 30 minutes until closing. The clam chowder was luke-warm, the salad was extremely disappointing: small and unflavorful, and they were out of several of their meal options. I cannot describe how disappointed I was in the food. And for 2 small and cold clam chowders, plus 2 poor quality salads, we spent about $27. Not worth the price at all. If I ever return I might try their lunch menu to see if its any better but I will probably not eat here again. The only positive thing I have to say is the service was good and friendly.

I heard that the Hearty Galley was making something called "BaconBeef" hamburgers - not on the menu, word-of-mouth kinda thing - so our group called before hand and asked for these. (owner is a great guy - and serious about his hamburgers). Let me just say, that was the most amazing burger I have ever eaten. I could have eaten the patty by itself it was so flavorful! Here is what to expect - it's a pirate-themed burger joint, nice and clean with great burgers and shakes. There is limited seating, sometimes there is a wait for the food - but it's a real family owned and run place, with an owner who really does care about his work, so it's worth the wait. Regarding the service - I expect Westport to be a little bit salty, right? I was impressed that the owner himself is running the place - he told me he fired the chef that was causing trouble (cited in previous reviews).

I love hamburgers and this place serves up an AWESOME burger! The fish also looked good. Huge portion. You can tell this is 100% sirloin that they actually ground right there- no fillers. We were lucky and they had the beef-bacon ground mix. So savory. This is a local burger-stand not a fancy sit-down place. The money for the food is just right (you spend about the same at McDonalds). Totally recommend it!

The waitresses were courteous and polite. The food was decent. The cook was screaming at everyone and everything so bad that the waitresses were about to cry. Customers were complaining about his attitude and behavior and were getting up and leaving. He was completely rude, insolent, and unnecessary. Slamming and throwing things everywhere while screaming and threatening to leave. Wish he would so we could just get our money back and leave.
