Great food, HORRIBLE service. First of all, I'm convinced this place is a little racist. The back corner had 5 tables. Every table in that corner had mainland asians sitting at it. There were no other asians at other tables in the restaurant. The maître d was by far the highlight of the night. His whole demeanor was negative and ruined the whole night for me. He was very rude, terse, and pushy. He kept emphasizing that the filet and salmon didn't come with any sides and kept trying to push us to order more when we didn't want more because we had a late lunch. I almost stopped him and yelled "I know how to read a menu" but refrained and decided to be the better person. When we told him that we would be sharing a bowl of chowder he kept asking how we were going to share that and I felt pressured to order two. I don't know if he thought we couldn't afford the place or decided to treat us horribly because we weren't ordering that much but either way, it wasn't appropriate. After we were served, nobody else came by our table and asked how the food was. The bus boy eventually came by the table and asked if we would like the dessert menu but by then we were ready to get out so we just paid the check and left. Horrible experience. I was actually looking forward to our dinner here because my boyfriend comes here for lunch all of the time and he only had good things to say but after this experience neither of us will be patrons of John Howie again.

Went to meet up friends. Had an amazing drink that was recommened by the head bar tender called a Sazerac. Its a whiskey based drink. Got the happy hour burger medium cooked and wow is all I have to say. The service and very friendly staff will always get me to return.

One of the best steak houses in the country. I travel for work and have been lucky to try steak houses in other areas. The steaks are seasoned and cooked to perfection. The salts that come with the meal make the flavors pop. I really have nothing negative to save.

I'm torn about John Howie Steak. Their dinner offerings are excellent, and my wife and I have never had a bad experience for dinner. The various wagyu options are executed extremely well, and the sides are great, from the classics like creamed spinach or the wild mushrooms, to other options like the lobster mashed potatoes. We love the bone marrow appetizer, and there are some classic tableside options for salads and desserts. The Bananas Foster is great for a show at the end of the meal, but the amount of rum pushes the dessert just to the edge of being too boozy; for something not so boozy but rich and satisfying, I would try one of the chocolate options on the menu. Where I'm not so excited is happy hour -- the bar area is crowded, noisy, and you just don't get the same high-end feel that you have a dinner. There are a bunch of crowd-pleasing appetizers and other options, but it just doesn't feel like the same place.

Melt in your mouth steak, friendly service and a warm atmosphere. Definitely a bit pricey, but I want to share something you probably won't hear in any of the other reviews. I went with my much younger sister and she got a hot cocoa. It was the most amazing cocoa that I have had. It was so rich and delicious. I am still thinking about it months later. So when you get dessert, make sure to get a cocoa too.
