I've never experienced a restaurant so focused on customer needs -- menu includes gluten-free, vegan, lighter-side and regular entrees in quantity. As soon as I asked to see the gluten-free menu, the server (Wendy) immediately processed and stored that information. When she brought bread for the table, she brought me chips and salsa. When my daughter ordered the calamari appetizer, she asked if we wanted it GF -- and told us they'd make it with GF breading! What restaurant keeps GF breading on hand??! She was attentive, the food was served in a timely manner and hot, and the selection for diverse needs was incredible. That said, the chips -- while hot and freshly fried -- tasted a bit odd and the salsa was more tomato sauce than tomatoes and other salsa ingredients. The calamari had a bitter taste to the coating -- I almost wonder if the kitchen had overused or overheated the cooking oil. The meat itself was nice and tender, not rubbery and the sauce was interesting (in a good way, if you like spicy!) My daughter's stir fry was good but my steak had little flavor and wasn't tender. It wasn't overcooked at all though, which seems to be a rarity. The peppermint ice cream at the end was a very pleasant, and tasty, surprise! If I find myself in Staunton again I'll definitely give them another chance and try different items. I think maybe I just hit on the wrong things this time. Meanwhile, they get definite points for customer focus and Wendy was terrific. The setting, in an old flour mill, definitely added to the experience!
The service was terrible and some of the waitresses were rude and no welcoming. I left after ten minutes because my waiter never showed up. Terrible
We got in close to closing, but still the seating hostess and the waiter were great. The drinks and food came in on time, but most importantly the food was AMAZING. Everything was perfectly spiced and well cooked. From the appetizer of tomato and cheese (with huge portion sizes), to our dinners of chicken and sausage, black bean burger, and pasta everything was amazing. If I'm ever in the area or within a hour or so drive, its well worth it to go back to this delicious restaurant. Oh, and the complementary bread/butter at the beginning and the palate cleansing ice cream at the end were perfect :)
Good food. Great service. We chatted with the owner. We would definitely return!
Food is consistently good , but have apparently stopped serving Merlot. The substitution was horrible. My only complaint ever. The lamb osso bucco is absolutely the best anywhere. Dont go on Wednesday unless you like loud music. I still give it high rating.
