Negative: A long wait at times. Positives: Great food, friendly service, and fair prices for the delicious food you eat. Sure you may (sometimes) wait 45 minutes for a table but the food is well worth it! You can always call ahead and check on wait times. Virginia Tech students will make the hour drive just to eat at The Homeplace! Overall: If you like southern family-style meals then you, my friend, have discovered one of the many treasures of Roanoke!
Really like the Homeplace restaurant, best roastbeef and fried chicken, I just wish they wouldn't have started charging for the desserts, that's part of the meal, it would be better to pay a dollar or two extra and include the dessert than to charge for them. It is basically the same thing, you would still be paying for it but I would eat it if it was included in the price were I wouldn't pay for a dessert.
Everything about this place is great. More than I like to spend as a college student, but definitely worth it. Friendly staff, amazing food especially if you are like me and don't get home style cooking very often. Definitely a place to go before you leave Blacksburg or to impress visitors. If you don't mind a little drive.
I went to this awesome all you can eat place with a bunch of church friends from Virginia Tech. It is kind of a long drive just to eat but well worth it. Most of the time I would end up being in a food coma from eating too much. If I knew I would be going to the Homeplace, then I would not eat anything else that day. This year I got married and to my delight we had the rehearsal dinner here. We even got to have our own private room. There were a few extra desserts so I had three cherry cobblers with ice cream. :D
Amazing food! Take a blanket with you and be prepared to take a quite nap out in the front lawn or you will have a hard time driving over the mountain to go home. My family calls this phenomenon the 'Chicken Sleepies'. The food is so good that you can't stop eating it. Then comes unlimited desert!
