This is Angela James and I am co-owner of Angelic Cupcakes. Randy Barclay (referred to below as Paul R. Barclay and reviewing as "Miss.Moab-Killz") is the father of a woman who purchased a cake from us. She paid for the cake, took the cake home, ate the cake (at her baby shower party), THEN 1-1/2 weeks later came back to my shoppe demanding a refund. I can only equate this to going to a restaurant and buying dinner, eating dinner and leaving the restaurant WITHOUT a complaint to the manager and then returning to the restaurant 1-1/2 weeks later and saying it wasn't good and wanting a refund. I told Brittany Kee (the woman who purchased the cake and daughter of Randy Barclay) that if she had brought the cake back immediately, we would have given a partial refund. I also told her she could have NOT accepted the cake (there were two small flaws in decorations) or she could dispute the charge with her credit card company (which maybe she did and it was denied so now her father is after us). But as it is, the cake was purchased; the cake was consumed; nothing was returned. Therefore, no refund was due. In good faith we did offer to give her a 10% discount on the next order. We will now bump that to 20% discount. We questioned at the time about filling this woman's order (because of the vibes we were getting from her and her husband) but regrettably filled the order, much to our chagrin. Now Randy Barclay is trying to ruin a great company over a cake with a few flaws. What I wrote to Brittany was "Brittany - I am very sorry that you were disappointed with the cake. We told you we would give you a discount on your next cake (not topper) and we will honor that. We have been in business for many years and we've never had complaints to the extent of today. Had you not accepted the cake or brought it back immediately, then we would be able to give you a partial refund. Our prices are probably the lowest in Lufkin for the decorations that you wanted. I think the cake was great looking for the price you paid and I'm sorry that you did not feel the same. You said that you were going to - I assume - leave bad reviews for us and I would rather you not do that. You are entitled to your opinion. But if things are said that are not true, that's libel and defamation of character. I am very sorry that we could not resolve this issue. If you paid by credit card, you can dispute the charge with your credit card company. Otherwise, we still stand behind our discount for your next cake or cupcakes."
