We're from the Dallas area and stopped by on the way back from a Hill Country vacation. I ordered the Fried Catfish and my husband ordered the T-Bone Steak. The food was wonderful. The service was great. There was no one there at the time. The setting was very nostalgic. The only complaint I had was the soda fountain was not working. They only accept cash and checks so don't try to use your credit card. They do have an ATM machine if you need it.
My wife and I tried this restaurant several times over a 3 year period. We had 3 bad experiences and now will not return. Each time there one of us at least got chicken fried steak. When the steak is good, it is good, but we had to send it back each time as it was TOUGH. The Mexican food is really bland and they have no reason to brag on it. Another time they had a very large group of DRUNK people come in and they were so loud no one in our end of the restaurant could hear anything. Management was hands off because they were buying drinks (my guess). I finally had to scream at them to shut up... they did, and the restaurant gave me a loud ovation of applause. This restaurant sucks and I am surprised so many people keep going back for the terrible food, poor management and lousy atmosphere. They will not see us ever again.
Excellent chicken fried steak but the BEST Catfish and coleslaw I have ever eaten! I am not crazy about much else on the menu (though their homemade full white meat chicken strips my kids get are also delicious) but these 2 things are always phenomenal and deserving of 4 stars all on their own. I love the atmosphere and the staff, they/it makes you feel at home and very welcome.
Go to the farmhouse for chicken fried steak and the fried catfish. Some of the best catfish i have tried. Mexican food needs help.
Worse Enchiladas Ever! Stay away from the Farmhouse Restaurant in Granite Shoals if you want Mexican Food. The Enchiladas are terrible and almost inedible, even the bean and rice was bad. The chicken fried steak is just okay, but at least it's worth eating. Take a chance if you want, but my suggestion is to skip the Farmhouse.
