Bocktown Beer and Grill

Beer good, you got to try the 4 oz sampler. You try more beers and it's cheaper. Food good, the Blue Mac and cheese is AWESOME! Everytime I fly in to Pittsburgh for work, I have to stop by once.
I LOVE this place! After trying it for the 1st time, we went 3 more times during the next 2 weeks, bringing different friends each time bc my hb & I talked it up SO much to everyone. The service is always super friendly, helpful, & patient as we ask about menu items or new beers to try. Portions & quality are more than worth their prices. They aren't REALLY expensive but not cheap either. Their build-a-fry is just amazing! I got the peppered bacon, along with a few other toppings. They do NOT skimp on any of the toppings, not even the more pricey ones. I had soooo much bacon on my order that my hb & I joked, "Did they put an ENTIRE pig on there??!!" This place quickly became my new favorite. I've only gotten ONE thing I didn't like, the Hummus, & that was due to personal preference rather than any error on their part. Menu says it's lemon flavored hummus with garlic, & maybe a few other seasonings. My group & I agreed that it was just WAY too much lemon for us, & we couldn't taste the garlic at all. We're not big on lemon, but love garlic, & expected it to be more even flavored rather than so much lemon that we thought we'd read the menu wrong. But that's just a personal preference thing. EVERY single thing I've eaten there or tried off friends' plates has been above and beyond my expectations. Super yummy and awesome!
I'm astonished at how people LOVE to pay inflated prices for such small portions!! Got the grilled chicken salad for $11...had one layer of lettuce on the plate with a small piece of sliced chicken over top. And this cost $11.00??? Add a pint of draft beer for a whopping $6.00 (which was served in a warm glass, presumably just pulled from the dishwasher) and I got the shaft! WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!!!! All you people who rate this place so highly need your heads examined. There is absolutely nothing good to write about this "restaurant."
The beer list is awesome! Had some beef vegetable soup which was yummy. Arrived and described what in a beer I was looking for...Dash, the bartender, served up 3 tasty choices for me to choose. He listened and was able to give me some choices and they were all spot on. Food was surprisingly very cared to in terms of choices and prep and tastiness. Not your typical "bar food" at all. Very impressed. I was here in March and can't wait to come back when the outdoor area is open.
My favorite place for American craft beer. And the food is great.
