Morgan's Pier

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I was in town with my boyfriend, who lives about an hour away. His friends had just graduated from Drexel, and wanted to celebrate that night at this bar. We took a cab down, and I was impressed by the location on the water underneath the nicely lit bridge. I had not been to Philadelphia before, and this seemed nice. Very soon though, the evening grew dull as we sat in a non-moving line for what seemed to be a half hour before we even saw the front door. When I finally got to the door, the bouncers were extremely rude upon the inspection of my ID. I had recently recovered from a foot injury, and due to inactivity gained a noticeable amount of weight. Well the bouncer felt it necessary to point out that "the lady on dat ID is bangable, YOU I dunno". I was shocked as no one had ever said anything this rude to me before. After my group talked the multiple idiots at the front into allowing my entry, I made my way to the door feeling that I may be able to still have a good time. The thought quickly escaped me however, when I was greeted by one of the foulest odors that I have experienced. It smelled as if there was decaying sea life in the river underneath, and the management hoped to cover it up by soaking the deck in vinegar. Well this was a horrible thing to be surrounded by, and it seemed as if no one in the establishment noticed to boot. Well just as about as it seemed nothing could make this place worse, an overzealous bouncer who was "escorting" someone out elbowed me in the eye. Today, I have a black eye because of this. And although I can admit I was in the way, there was no chance for me to move out of the way and this worker simply told me "move it, or lose it". This makes little sense to me and as absurd as the action was, the words spoken seem to portray the intelligence of this staff well. I couldn't bear any more, so we made our way outside to find a ride home. So we stood on the sidewalk and waited for a cab, as I also tried to find words to explain to my boyfriend how I felt at the moment. And the moment I officially broke down and begin to cry (for legitimate reasons), the patron who had previously been escorted out of the club stumbled to my group, mumbled to someone, and turned and threw up on my feet. This is my impression of Philadelphia, I will not return.
Seems they lost their best features. Now it's disappointing food, terrible service, average beer, all overpriced. They don't even have a dozen, let alone dozens of beers. The atmosphere was cool and there seemed to be lots of young singles, mostly dudes.
We originally started out at Cavanaughs, but our experience there was horrible and short lived. They have the most ignorant bartenders and forget management....haha, that's not managing....anyway, we came to Morgans Pier, first time there for all of us. There were at least 25 of us and it was Awesome, the bartenders and waitresses were professional and courteous!! You have got our business on the river from now on!! It was a great experience and we will pass the word on to all our friends!!
We unexpectedly decided to come here. I looked it up at the last minute. I knew about it and wanted to come and I'm glad I did. The spot sits on the river across from Camden just under the Ben Franklin bridge. Cool atmosphere, great music, and really good food! Oh yeah good beer too! With a line up of local brews on tap and bottles. I went light, had the cheese croquettes (with kale) good, the really good fires (that's the real name) really good, the GF had the burger. She really like it. There are other choices but the food, brew and the view is what you come for. Well the music too. Check the website there's a ton of music and dj acts coming up this month including DJ Spinna on the 15th. I will be back here and I will recommend this place especially during the summer! 🍺🍺🍺🍺
Had a great evening out on the pier the other night. The food was extremely good at any price. To have it be so inexpensive was a bonus. Go early before the shows start and you will be treated to a wonderful setting as well!
