Pier 101
Reviews
Rating: horrible, an affront to any seafood eater, no star preferred. Cafeteria quality at fine dining prices. I had the oysters and potatoes; I was salivating at the thought of fresh oysters, pan fried, and crispy potatoes--I'm on the Oregon coast for god's sake! I got the opposite: oysters processed and breaded in China(?), thawed in Lincoln City and sold at an obscene profit, plus flaccid potato slices--russet potatoes sliced length-wise cooked but rubbery. My wife's order was just as bad, including cocktail sauce that could pass for ketchup in any McD's. The only bright spot was a very nice young waiter who may have been accustomed to apologizing for the disparity between quality and price.
Disappointed is an understatement. Referred by my hotel, this place is not a location to go if you are craving delicious seafood. The other disappointments are they appear to be proud of their food by the price "not worth it at all". With no greeter and standing in the hallway, I almost left. When I was seated it took about 15 min. to be served "Second strike". Plank potatoes, oysters, butterfly shrimp, I think was the calamari where dry and flavorless. What topped off this wonderful dining experience was a belligerent, loud, obnoxious creation who chose to use foul language around children. I drove six hour for coastal fare and this place is a poor representation
We ate at Pier 101 on a Saturday night with 11 people. I made reservations a few hours ahead of time. We were able to walk right in. We were all very happy with our meals. We had already tried Mo's. That was good too. However, Pier 101's menu included crab legs, which made many in our party very happy. The fish and crab were fresh and tasted great. The desserts were delicious. Servings big enough to share. The cheese cake was GIANT. The apple crisp was the best I have had since my grandmother used to make it. I am in Oregon City for 2 more days and I will be going back to Pier 101 before I leave.
The high prices at this restaurant do not translate to well cooked food. $19 for fried calamari strips that were 20% fish and 80% breading. The calamari was so meager I could barely see or taste it. The cocktail sauce tastes like ketchup, and I had to order a side of lemon wedge and horseradish to doctor it at the table. The potatoes they serve have to be an invention born out of laziness. A thick slice (slab) of a whole potato thrown into the deep fryer comes out heavy and soggy. What a waste of food to be prepared this way. Service was good. Our waiter was a tall, polite young man who got me and my husband every extra thing we asked for so we could season and get down our over-priced, terrible entrees.
Absolutely the worst meal I have had in a very long time. We went in fairly early on Friday night, and were ushered into the bar area (which seemed to be the norm for small parties). It took some time to see our waiter even though it wasn’t that busy. We gave him our order and got our bread and clam chowder fairly quickly and that was very good. The actual meal of prime rib and stuffed salmon was awful. We have been there in the past and had wonderful food; in fact it was one of the reasons we came to Lincoln City. This was definitely not the case for this trip. After we got our meal, which by the way was delivered by a different server, we never really saw our waiter again. We should have sent the whole meal back. The prime rib was fatty and tough and more done than we asked for. The salmon was tasteless and the shrimp was not that great either. When we were done we waited at least 15 minutes and the waiter never came back to ask how the meal was or if we wanted dessert. The busboy was very attentive and the other female server in the bar was very attentive to her customers. We finally had to ask if we could have our check. The absolute worst $60.00 I’ve spent. I will never go back there again ever.
