Ye Olde Trail Tavern
Reviews
I used to be a regular patron of this restaurant until the evening of Saturday, August 9. My wife and I wanted to have a nice dinner and drinks on the patio there. The weather was beautiful. We called ahead of time and were told plenty of tables were available on the patio. The drive there took no more than 15 minutes after the phone call. Upon arrival, we checked in. There were six empty tables as we entered. The host seemed bothered that we even walked in the restaurant and said there would be at least a 20 minute wait. That seemed odd with all the empty tables. However, I figured maybe they were short on staff. I asked if we could get a drink at the bar or a table inside for a drink and then go out on the patio when a table was ready. The host said no. When I asked why, he was very rude and seemed put out that he even had to deal with customers. He was young guy with a bad attitude and totally lacking in customer service skills. Definitely, not the type of person you want dealing with your patrons. My wife and I walked down the street to Sunrise Café and had a wonderful dinner on their patio. As mentioned, I used to be a regular customer. The type who brought out of town guests the week before and spent $125. The type who comes for lunch in the winter time when the place is empty. However, if this is the type of help Ye Olde Trail Tavern hires, I'll go elsewhere.
My husband's 21st birthday is coming up and I wanted to make sure he had a great experience. I called Peach's first because of the music and was informed even with a party of 20 people, no call ahead or reservation could be placed. While I understand the desire to have a first come, first served atmosphere, the idea of our family waiting for hours to be sat near each other because let's face it, a group of 20 is hard to seat, just didn't sit well with me. I also really wanted to give the restaurant a heads up so that other customer's service didn't suffer because they were unaware of such a large group. My husband prefers the Tavern anyways and thought, why not try. They were so accommodating and thankful for the heads up and business. They are even allowing us to bring our own cake! This restaurant is all about making sure you have a great dining experience, every time. We have been there when they are slammed and even on rainy mornings when they are slower...the service is always the same.
As previously mentioned, the only good characteristic about this place is the beer menu. The staff and service are terrible. The food is not great either. Skip this place. In fact, skip all of Yellow Springs. They are all lazy and slow, which creates a very poor work ethic population.
The one good thing and please let me stress…the one and only good thing about this place is their beer menu. The customer service is horrendous. We waited 35 minutes for our salad to come out, which had the wrong dressing. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she stated, “I know we ran out.” I didn’t know what to say other than o.k. and wondered when she thought it would be a good idea to let us know that she was not providing us with the item that we ordered. Another 20 minutes went by and our Rueben came out COLD! We were beyond hungry and just ate. This place has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. Not recommendable!!
Great food, service, and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it.
