Love this place! When I am in the area, I come in for coffee, lunch, or a snack. I schedule meetings here, too. They have a nice range of choices for food.
I have been to the Towpath several times now and been disappointed each time. The only redeeming factor is that it's on the canal and from what I can see that is what they rely on. The food is mediocre at best and though they claim to be a bistro - they served powered driinks (like the chai) instead of brewing them - if I am going to pay $4 for a tea, I want the real thing not a powered drink. come folks up your game you have a great location now match your food and service to it!
When I moved closer to Fairport Towpath quickly became my favorite coffee shop. The owners are incredibly friendly, the space is comfortable, they serve tasty food outside in addition to coffee, and feature weekly entertainments Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I often visit Towpath for lunch and work while I work remotely on my laptop. During low volume hours the owners are extremely laptop friendly. If it's a rush hour, or if they have live music, they will ask that you move to take up one seat, or make room for customers who might order more than you. Personally I'm happy to oblige. They also feature a large recently expanded dining area and outdoor patio for the warmer months. If you want some coffee you owe it to yourself to check this place out.
We have eaten here several times and have had mixed feelings about the place. At times the food and service and atmosphere is amazing, and then there are times, like last night, where we arrived at 7:50, were told they closed at 8pm and told to leave. We were ten minutes before they closed and although one server was ready to seat us another one trumped her and sent us packing. We also have had to wait for some time (on occassion) for our food and other service items. But again, it is spotty. I guess it depends on the luck of the draw there?
Think coffee shop but with exceptional food. I can't wait to come back in the summer.
