Brewery Ommegang
Reviews
A great experience overall - from the tour to the restaurant, visiting Ommegang is a trip I love to repeat. The restaurant has great options, though the wait can be long unless you grab a seat at the bar or plan ahead. Parking: an adjacent field provides more room for busy days. Price: Ommegang has perhaps the most expensive growlers I have ever seen - but 100% worth it for sheer awe. The tour and tasting are super cheap and definitely worth your money, even if you only plan to try a few beers.
Friendly folks, an interesting tour, and great beers! When you visit, be sure to sign up for the hourly tour and tasting. The gastropub next to the tasting room is also pretty good, though I felt the fare was a bit too high-brow.
Easily one of the best breweries I've been to. On this particular trip we did the Cooperstown Beverage Trail, going to Butternuts (awful), Cooperstown (decent), Council Rock (decent), and Ommegang (amazing). One of the reasons it's an amazing brewery is simply their beer is delicious. Had the Gnommegang, Rare Vos, Abbey Dubbel, and others. I wish they had the Game of Thrones special editions there but they did not. The food was amazing though too. Had the chicken and waffles with vanilla pepper cream sauce. Fantastic! The tasting is definitely worth it and plan to stay awhile to try all the amazing beers. Gets very crowded but it's a fun atmosphere. If doing the beverage trail, highly recommend using a driving service like Doubleday Drivers. They'll drive your car around so you can enjoy all the delicious beers!
We've gone to Ommegang lots. The tour is a basic brewery tour, but we love the beers. Very Belgian and different. The food is great. One night we served beer for old crow medicine show and it was a really great time. A good place to go and work.
Belgian style NY brewery in Cooperstown, in the middle of the state. Great beer hall and extensive tasting room. Fun annual events.
