Two New Fans Pepper's is a constant stop when we are in Boone. The French onion soup is an "all-time favorite". After a lacrosse match yesterday (rainy & wet), Pepper's was our next stop. You have added two new fans to the FOS Lovers list when we invited friends to join us. Great service, great food - Thanks.
Went in there as a group of 10 last Saturday, at 9:30, and the place is practically empty. We are told that they are unsure if they can seat us all at the same table. Then, after checking with the kitchen, we are told that "the kitchen is backed up and we close at 10. You can stay, but we are not sure we can feed you." First of all, you are not busy so why are you backed up and why can't you seat us together? Second of all, it's 9:30! You don't close for another half hour. Third of all, you turned away a party of 10 who would have spent a minimum of $100 on food and drinks and went on their merry way! So, I proceeded to post to their Facebook page so that management would know what happened, and guess what happens? Not what you would expect. Not an apology, not a, we'll address this with our employess, not a, how can we make this right, we'd love for you to come back. In fact, they DELETED the post and completely ignored me. THANK YOU for the AWFUL customer service on all levels. I will never go there and will never suggest it to anyone EVER.
You cannot come to Boone without eating at least once at Pepper's. We love it for lunch in particular because that's when we can go, but dinner is excellent casual dining. Relaxing atmosphere, comfortable seating, friendly folks, great value, a pretty huge selection, and a really nice attached pub with a lot of NC Craft beers. Pepper's is an institution and has probably fed more people since they opened about 50 years ago than any other independent restaurant in Boone. Family friendly and family friendly prices.
The food is good but a little expensive for what you get. The bar is very nice if you want to get a good drink before 10pm.
Homemade pimento cheese is excellent!!
