Makoto's Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar-Boone NC Restaurant
Reviews
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! My girlfriend and I go here every chance we get which happens to be at least 2 times a month. Blows Cobo out of the water for sushi in Boone. If youre looking for delicious amazing food do not hesitate to choose Makoto's!
The sushi bar is amazing! I really loved the eel roll and the Boone special. The servers are really friendly and the restaurant is clean and has a comforting, relaxed atmosphere. Very sad we're just visiting Boone, because I would love to go again.
Really great sushi bar! I went here to charge my electric motorcycle and the owner was very enthusiastic about meeting another electric vehicle (EV) driver. We talked and went outside to see my vehicle, despite his broken leg. The food was very good and the service was quick and friendly. Was rather impressed with the sushi so far from the ocean, but it was really quite good!
I think that this is the greatest reasaraunt I have ever been to. It was absolutely fantastic, the chef was very entertaining and you know how they are preparing your food because they prepare it right in front of you! BEST OF ALL THE RESTAURANTS IN THE WORLD! If I could give them more than 5 stars I would.
DO NOT EAT HERE! It is a knock off Kobe. Wanted to go somewhere special for Valentine's Day with my loved one, as App students we chose this place (because we were snowed in and couldn't go off the mountain). First off, the interior is horrible and dirty, smelled like old fish which is not a great impression but, we were still optimistic. On to the service. The soup was gross it take like KFC brown gravy not like Japanese onion/mushroom soup. Secondly the salad was terrible, the shrimp sauce was so watery you could barely taste it. Third, the fried rice cooked in front of you has a thousand thinly chopped onions; one in every bite and taste like it was burned (I guess from the grille), the steak taste freezer burnt and also taste like blood, our server chopped up pieces of fat from the steak and served it which was not cool just GROSS. The portions of food were very small, there were more mushrooms than meat making it look fuller than it was. Our server did not entertain us actually he barley spoke to us and we paid for the experience. Also he splashed rice everywhere even in drinks. As if things couldn't get any worse, the fortune cookies were extremely hard. I was heart broken to know that my loved one had to spend 40 dollars for two on this crap. You are better off going to Hokkaido, Taste Grille, or Sakura in Boone or down the mountain to KOBE in Hickory. I have never made a review but I had to worn people about this place. Please do not waste your money!
