My husband always buys and orders flowers for me from Carousel. The flowers do not usually last long so this last time he ordered a plant mix. After exactly 10 days the blooming plant in the basket went bad. There were little white tiny bugs crawling in it and the stems and base were all rotting and turing mushy. I called the store and the lady I spoke with said to bring in the plant. I was assuming they would replace it...WRONG! I went into the store to be told that I must have over watered it and there was nothing they could do. Additionally the lady added that this type of plant is really meant as a temporary plant anyway...Temporary? 10 days?! Very disappointed and will not be ordering flowers from them in the future.
Rochester, MN, has a variety of florists. I've given most of them a try for one reason or another. I stumbled across Carousel Floral when we first moved to Rochester some 6 years ago. My Carousel experiences were a mixed bag. There were times when our arrangements would die the next day and some that would last for quite a while. I did have an experience recently that has probably put me off from coming back... This last Valentine's Day I had a tough scenario where I started a new job only a few weeks prior and my daughter was sick the entire week, so I was in a bit of a pickle in terms of getting a floral arrangement. On this particular day I was in a bit of a time crunch, so I thought I'd give Carousel another try since it was later in the evening and they were open versus other florists. They had multiple signs up that stated "Valentine's Day Special: spend $59.99 and receive a coupon for a free dozen roses." I purchased an arrangement and candies for my wife and young daughter that exceeded that amount (sans tax). After I had paid I asked if I could have the coupon. The clerk, Bob, told me the arrangement had to be $59.99 or more not including other items. I was a little annoyed with this as EVERY sign was vague and simply stated you had to spend $59.99 NOT just on one particular thing. With Bob's permission I asked if I could see if I could meet the criteria by swapping my arrangement for another; yet, I couldn't find anything that wasn't astronomically priced. I returned to Bob and said I would settle for what I had, and the man gave me the stink eye making comments to his colleagues about how I was being difficult. He had told me that he had already refunded me for the arrangement I had and that I would have to buy it again. At the end of the day, I got what I came for, but it wasn't without a certain level of annoyance and, at least on Valentine's Day a bit of embarrassment. I can't blame Carousel for wanting have customers meet a criteria in order to take advantage of a promotion; however, it wasn't clearly marked what needed to be done to meet it. Also, a customer shouldn't be ridiculed for asking about the promotion, not spending enough to meet its criteria, and seeking to meet it. Just the same you can't blame a customer for wanting to take advantage of something you are advertising. As of yet Carousel's refund hasn't hit my bank, so I'm probably going to have to get on them about that, where it has already been several days. Just know that if you do visit this florist you are rolling the dice in terms of customer service and quality. The odds aren't in your favor.
Ordered flowers for my daughter online as I live out of state, they were delivered the on the same day within 2 hours of placing it with no delivery fee. Great service with beautiful arrangement.
Wish I would have read these earlier. 3 friends and I chipped in $100 as a group to provide flowers to our friend who's husband had died. I ordered a $100 delux version of something the day before the funeral. I got to the visitation before the ceremony and they weren't there. When I called to ask where they were she said the delivery person didn't make the cut off time for the church delivery so they had to be delivered to the reception after... the reception was only for family so this $100 bouquet was totally wasted. A few days later our friends visited the house and I asked if she ever got the flowers at the reception. She said yes, they are right here. I was SHOCKED! We were ripped off and totally embarassed that a 10" bouquet of sunflowers was $107. I'm sure they assumed that calling from St Paul, I wasn't going to see the flowers. They were wrong and I hope this bad karma puts them out of business. I am still reeling with embarassment that 4 people would go in on a gift that looked like a $15 bouqet from Target. NOT COOL.
I have lived in the rochester area my whole life and order flowers once a month. I thought I would try something different and order from Carousel, I am horribley unhappy with the customer service and I delt with the owner! I orderd at 8 am and he said it couldnt be delivered until 1pm. I have never had such a run around. Then when I asked the amount of my order it was way higher then what I told him I wanted to spend!! So I take it when you give a company your credit card number they can charge you whatever they want??? this is insane! I will never do business with this company again and will send all of my friends in family else where
