Bob's Clam Hut

Very fast, friendly service and good food. Stick with the clam strips and you'll get the fried clam experience without breaking the bank. Clam chowder was a little thin, but excellent flavor. To the other people calling it a tourist trap, it only is if you're an idiot and don't know how to read a menu. A must try for anyone heading this way!!
My family & I have been going to Bob's for yrs. But, its just not good anymore. We are so bummed over it. The last time they came home from Los Angeles, we went there & was so disappointed. No more Bob's for us. It's a bit out of the way, but Johnson's Steak & Seafood in North Berwick on Rte. 4. It is worth the trip. And they are not over-priced. Really good seafood. Especially the Haddock.
Prices were very high but the quality of the food was ordinary, at best. Four people had a lobster roll, a scallop roll, and two baskets of fish and chips. The lobster roll was was rated "good" but was very expensive--$23. Scallop roll was "fair to good"; the scallops were heavily breaded and chewy. Finally, the two fish and chips baskets each had four small breaded fish tales hidden under a mound of greasy french fries.. When we asked, we were told the fish was "Redfish", which was not even mentioned on the menu. The Redfish was soggy and unappetising. Finally, fountain drinks were $2.25 for a 12 oz cup. Here are the menu prices for what we ordered: Lobster roll -- $14.95 Scallop Roll -- $16.95 Haddock & chips baskets -- $14.95 (X2) Four sodas -- $ 9.00 ------------------------------------------------------------ Total menu price $70.80 In fact, we were charged over $82.00 because of "differences in market prices of fish". Caveat emptor

Ordered a Clam basket for $22.00 (Fried clams and french fries) for my wife and I to share- Window girl says ".. the basket is overflowing with clams....- The basket arrived with a handful of fries in the bottom and 11 clams on top- yes- I counted-- exactly 11!! Now if you calculate an average side order of fries to be approx. $3.00 (and that would be overpriced for what was in the basket) That leaves $19.00 for the clams- which comes to about $1.73 PER CLAM!!! -The clams were very tasty but not exceptional, fries were mediocre at best- My advice--- Bob's is an overpriced tourist trap catering to those who don't know any better or don't care-- Obviously Guy Fieri doesn't pay for his food!!!
