Mason's

Mason’s Saved My Life! I have to start out by thanking Mason’s for saving me from a lifetime of petty arguments and a loveless relationship with a tyrant. Thank You From The Bottom Of My Heart! This happened because a few months ago this guy I knew and had hung out with a couple of few times over the course of a couple of years invited me to dinner. He chose Mason’s. I’d never been there before, but it sounded nice, so I agreed even though previous “dates” with this guy had left me feeling a little skeezy. Well… Worst. Night. EVER! We’re seated promptly in a quiet corner of the restaurant. When the waiter came to take our drink order my “date” pulls out a fake ID and tries to order wine. The waiter notices that it’s fake and politely tries to avoid selling this boy sitting across the table from me an alcoholic drink. So, he gets all macho and creates a disturbance. The waiter left our table to defuse the situation and I was SO embarrassed. I tried to make light conversation but he wouldn't let it go. After a while the manager came over to try to save the evening for us, but my “date” would not let it go. He was becoming louder and more verbally abusive. It was at this point I could see him for what he really was: An insecure, underage, verbally abusive bully who was trying desperately to impress me with his manhood. We ordered dinner and -- to be honest -- I can’t even remember what I ate because I was so embarrassed and hurt by this idiot’s behavior. I just wanted to get out of there. After we left Mason’s he still couldn't let it go. All the way home he kept the argument going and even blamed ME for taking the side of the staff of the restaurant. When he dropped me off I told him don’t ever contact me again. Don’t call, don’t text. Nothing! Mason’s: I’m sorry for the disturbance this caused, but I am so glad you helped me break out of the cycle of having this guy in my life! I’m looking forward to visiting Mason’s again when I find a man who I’m happy being with.
WHAT To Expect: well-executed modern American cuisine, set in a french brasserie-styled, beautifully renovated vintage colonial house along Easton, Md's high street. WHY You Should Go: Great destination dining, if like us, you want to escape the hustle-bustle of the DC-metro area, explore a cute/quaint eastern shore town, and sample a rightfully-named local fave! We recommend the following dishes: side of fries with parmesan-salting; Salmon w/ perfect top char and spices; Po' boy sandwich (although served on a bun, not a baguette). WHEN You Should Go: Year-round, to enjoy the quaintness, beauty, and hospitality of MD's eastern shore. We'll also be returning when the weather is a bit warmer, as a destination for one of our Moto-riding adventures!
WORST DINING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Ruined my relationship with my girlfriend. I drove an hour specifically to take my girlfriend out for a nice dinner at Mason's for our 2 year anniversary. After sitting down, I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio and was asked for my ID. The waiter looks at my out of state ID and returns it back to me no problem. But not even five minutes later, another waiter comes by and asks for my ID again, saying she would be the one serving us. I gave it to her and again. About 5 or 10 minutes later the first waiter comes out and asks for my ID for a THIRD time and at this point I am starting to get angry. She says she wants to scan it and I begrudgingly give it to her to take inside. Finally after another 20 minutes the first wait staff comes by and says that the manager thinks it is fake. I am appalled, and under normal circumstances would ask to speak to the manager immediately. However, at this point it is already almost 8:30 and don't want to ruin the nice dinner I am supposed to be having with my girlfriend for our anniversary so I say that we will just order. The food was average at best, and the whole night I was sour about not being able to have a nice glass of Pinot Grigio with my Rockfish, and what was supposed to be a really nice night was ruined. My girlfriend and I got into a huge fight after dinner, and eventually ended our 2 year relationship later that weekend. Worst dining experience of my life. LEARN TO READ AN OUT OF STATE LICENSE!! Avoid this place.
We visited this restaurant on the last Saturday of Talbot County's restaurant week, and it was absolutely wonderful. I was a little unsure of how it would go when the hostess seated us at a table at the back of the restaurant, but the waitress was friendly and attentive the entire time we were there. The Carolina flounder on fried black rice was excellent, but it was eclipsed by its predecessor, the crab soup. I could have eaten the crab soup alone and declared this to be the best restaurant in Easton, and I think that may be what I do the next time I am here.
Consistently some of the best food in the area, with a helpful and knowledgeable wait staff and a nice atmosphere. My favorite place in Easton.
