Was looking for a new neighborhood bar. I do not cook and regularly spend $20-30 for dinner and beverages each evening. I explained to the bartender that it was my first visit to the restaurant. My Mac's experience had the bartender refusing to run a tab without retaining my credit card and informing me that I would be subject to a $10 minimum for using my card. I had also paid a $5 cover for entertainment that was not set up and was not near to being able to play. I paid cash for my drink and was still wanting to order food. My appetite was dashed when there was a person smoking a cigar at the bar where I would have been trying to eat.
Cover charge seems ridiculous at times and we end up going to jacks but during the week my boyfriend and I take advantage of it being practically empty. There's always an available pool table.
