For Clermont, it is a great location. We've been reliably pleased by the food and the service. I don't hesitate to recommend it.
Finally drove 45 minutes to Clermont to try The Crooked Spoon after enjoying the food truck incarnation a few years ago. The exterior was inviting but the interior could use a bit of warmth. There is a chalk board at the rear of the restaurant next to the restroom that lists the specials. It's a strange location for the featured items given the board isn't visible from most of tables. We ordered the blue cheese chips based on the recommendation of the waitress. They lived up to the hype and we were excited to taste our main dishes, the mac & cheese and the fish sandwich. The mac & cheese was fine but nothing outstanding and, at $11, overpriced; the peppers masked the flavors of the cheeses. The fish sandwich was the most disappointing dish of the night: the bun was stale and the fish was dry. We tried to deal with it but ended up sending it back in exchange for the 420 Burger. The burger took 15 minutes to cook and during that time my water ran dry (and was never refilled) and our appetites waned. The flavors of the burger were good and reminded me of why I enjoyed the Crooked Spoon food truck so much; it's too bad it was cooked a bit beyond what was requested. Dennis, the disheveled man sitting at a high top watching TV the bulk of the time I was there who I presume is the manager, delivered the burger and offered no apologies for the inconvenience of the ill prepared fish sandwich, and he certainly made NO effort to make up for it. Unless there are some drastic changes, I will never return to The Crooked Spoon. The waitstaff is rough around the edges, management is unprofessional, and the food is mediocre at best. I was disappointed this trip to a food truck favorite turned out to be such an unpleasant experience. From now on I will stick to the consistently great restaurants K, Ravenous Pig, Cask & Larder, and Luma.
My family and I have been to the Crooked Spoon three times, so far. First of all, the service is friendly, prompt, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Everything they serve is fresh, fresh, fresh. The burgers are HUGE and do not disappoint. The burger condiments compliment each other perfectly and the Lobster Sandwich has chunks of lobster throughout. Soooo good! I have tried the Pork Sandwich, the 420 Burger, and the Lobster Sandwich, Each one was prepared perfectly and just as the server described it. Delicious! When you go, check out the chalkboard on the back wall. It has items on it that aren't on the menu and I plan to order from it next time. Very creative and original menu items and all so delicious, it's hard to choose. I had the Florida Beer with my meal and it was really good and refreshing. Do yourself a favor and try this place. You will not be disappointed. We love it and they don't skimp on portions. Thanks, Crooked Spoon!
Excellent service that provided a laidback evening out for the family. Dirt cheap kids menu. Our kids loved the coconut chicken tenders. I had the new bacon wrapped angus meatloaf and it was delicious! So glad to see Clermont welcome this restaurant as it's unique, and much better than the chain restaurants that we are all sick and tired of. Seated right away, appetizers came right out, never had to wait for a drink refill. Service with a smile! Nice outdoor seating as well. We will be back for sure.
For my birthday I was taken there for lunch. We were dissapointed by the menu, the food was not great for what you got and the prices were too high. eg a hotdog was $9.00 + $3 for a few fries . home made chips came with the hotdog but unable to eat as they were too hard and when the food cam out the fries were cold. Went back in evening hopeing meals may be a little bit different, oh boy was I wrong. I was recomended that their belly pork version of their blt with a poached egg on top was very popular. It came out with arrugula lettuce covered in one of their own dressings (advise to try all dressings on side) I asked for the pork to be well done ie crispy and was told it allways was. WRONG, it was a thick cut slice of pork fat that was soft and felt and tasted horrible in the mouth The egg was not poached and was indeed a fried egg which was not just soft, it was raw. No appology was made and I was asked if I would like something else. I decided to have a childrens chicken strips. I still had to pay for everything , no offer of a discount for the nasty sandwich, I am sure much of it will be teething problems and we may try again in a couple of months after I have asked around and look for some changes. The waitress Nicky in the afternoon was very pleasant. PS. Pub grub is supposed to be cheap and chearful.
