Dinner, with its entertainment, has never been a disappointment. This time we tried lunch, and it was fabulous. Best Squash soup we've ever eaten. All menu items sounded great. We decided on Scallops with blue cheese risotto and Hill-and-Dale Sirloin hash. Both were outstanding, and we are members of the "clean-your-plate-club." We now must return to try all the other offerings. We highly recommend lunch at the Golden Lamb Buttery.

The food here is amazing! BEST meal I have ever had and the scenery is lovely.

This is such a memorable place to go. This is not your average restaurant, this is an experience. From cocktails on the hayride to cocktails on the back porch, you are well taken care of. Laurie was our server and took great care of us. My husband doesn't like the mint glaze on lamb and Laurie was able to have that left off. The chateaubriand was cooked to perfection, rare the way I requested. We were serenaded by Susan Lamb both on the hayride and throughout dinner. A talented gentleman tickled the ivories during the cocktail hour. My only complaints were that of some of the customers. The website requests smart attire and there were quite a few patrons in jeans and either flip flops or sneakers. There was also a large family with several children that were running around before and after dinner. Fortunately for everyone else, they were in a separate dining area that didn't disrupt others. We look forward to going back this December. Thank you Katie and Laurie for making this a perfect evening!

The Golden Lamb is so much more than a restaurant. Yes, they serve food—amazing food—but it is the atmosphere of the place and the attentiveness of the staff that really make it stand out. It would make an especially lovely destination for a memorable birthday celebration, special date, family gathering --or a wedding! My husband and I were married there in June and couldn’t have been happier with the whole experience. We had a small ceremony (50 guests) in a field on the property overlooking a pond with the lovely barn in the backdrop. After our ceremony our guests had a wonderful meal at the restaurant which somehow manages to be simultaneously elegant, rustic, and eclectic. Nothing cookie-cutter about this place at all. We opted to have dessert served in the barn (old fashioned strawberry shortcake and strawberry rhubarb bread pudding!). The day went incredibly smoothly thanks to the attentiveness, care, and organizational skills of Katie, the owner, and her wonderful staff. We felt well cared for and our guests, even my foodie uncles, were floored by the quality and presentation of the food. Katie worked with us to create a customized menu based on our preferences incorporating lots of seasonal and local ingredients—including some from a garden right on the property. We had Summer Citrus Chicken served with asparagus, Cast Iron Roasted Beef Tenderloin with sautéed arugula & tomato concasse with roasted fingerling potatoes, Pan Seared Sea Scallops with Basil Tomato Risotto, sweet pea sauce & balsamic drizzle, Homemade Beet Pasta tossed with rainbow swiss chard, goat cheese & olive oil. And their zucchini bread is to die for! Needless to say, our guests raved about the food and loved seeing the charming kitchen were the food was prepared. So if you are looking for a venue—for a special meal or for a unique wedding or other event—you should definitely check it out. Your guests will be awed by the beauty of the location, kids and adults alike will enjoy a hay wagon tour of the property, and of course, the food is phenomenal. I can’t speak highly enough about the Golden Lamb. You have to try it for yourself. We can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I have had more than a dozen enjoyable meals with friends at the Buttery over several years when we were welcomed warmly by Jimmie and Bob Booth who were most gracious hosts. We even staged a memorable and productive fundraiser at the restaurant for a local charity. However, a couple years ago we had a very unfortunate experience that tarnished our view of the place and has made it so that as much as we would like, we have not been able to bring ourselves to return. What happened was that after our party of four had finished our dinner, I picked up the check for the group, added what I thought was a reasonable tip to our bill, rounded the total which came to well over $400, and left it for our waitress. After looking at it, she came over to our table and stated in a very haughty voice, “Was there a problem with the service?” We were all shocked and confused as to why she would confront us in this way. We all replied, “No. Everything was fine.” She then responded, "OK. I'm glad to hear there was nothing wrong with the service." She then turned away and stomped off. I left the table and went back to the register area to ask for a receipt. She seemed very put off by my request, so I asked her what was the problem. She responded in a very rude voice that “…the tip was not exactly 15%, was it?” I told her that that the tip was very close to 15%, but regardless, that was no reason for her to embarrass me in front of my friends, and I walked away. My experience is not unusual. I've had other friends relate to me peculiar encounters with the waitstaff at this restaurant which points to an undercurrent of dissatisfaction among them. This is echoed by other reviewers on this site. I would hope that Bob and Jimmie's granddaughter, Katie, who has taken over as proprietor can address this issue. I've heard that the individual who treated us so poorly is still working at the restaurant. As long as she is there, we will not return. In all fairness, however, I will say that the Golden Lamb is in a beautiful setting. In the Fall, it offers a glorious view of New England imagery at its best. The hayride is very relaxing and the table-side music adds a light and friendly touch. The food is very good, but not excellent, but that's not what one pays for at this establishment. It is for the ambiance, which unfortunately for us was ruined by discourteous behavior by a malcontented employee.
