Good Earth Natural Foods
Reviews
The large parking lot west of the store is easy to negotiate. The staff is friendly and helpful. High quality foods. You pay a premium ... it's difficult to get out under $80 per bag. They also don't add new items to their shelves.
I am from Vermont, thus a major foodie, so my review really counts. This is where I want to eat again and again when in the Bay Area (my daughter and granddaughter live in SF.) Food is exceptional, it is really fun to eat outside in the fresh air, and all the people who shop here look like we do in VT! We went crazy last visit and bought a slice of lemon cake from the deli on our way home, to share 4 ways. You can guess how that turned out. We actually doubled back to grab some more, and became deeply depressed because in the 2 hours we were gone, they sold out! So we got a chocolate variety. OMG. Heaven. Whether you believe in it or not. Worth the trip from Vermont. May go for the weekend. Kidding. But I almost would...
Good Earth feels like a community gathering place. Who wouldn't love that? The prepared food is very good, so is the variety, the fish is fresh, the house-made sausage superb. BUT, I keep writing notes to the management asking them to take the sugar out of the food they prepare and package (across from the hot foot vegetarian counter). Why would good earth use sugar in foods that are not intended to be sweet? I got a couple of email saying they were looking in to it. I looked in to it too, by once again reading the ingredient list, and what did I find? Sugar… Why? Anyone else care to comment on this?
Fantastic selection of organic produce and other products. This is our go-to place for healthy food. The parking lot is a nightmare so do yourself a favor and park on the street.
I swear this must secretly be a Whole Foods! The product selection (and higher prices) is very similar to WF, as is the food bar. Whenever I'm in West Marin or passing through Fairfax, I always plan to stop in and raid the vegetarian food bar. They have the best kabocha squash stew ever. Seating in the patio is dog friendly and relaxing. Parking's not great but it's downtown Fairfax!
