This has been one of our favorite restaurants for over 30 years. Yes, they do not take reservations so we have to stand in line outside for almost 1 hour to get a good table or even any table for that matter. Yes, they only take cash. Yes, sometimes the service is slow but it's still has the best seafood this side of Boston with gorgeous ocean views. We don't even think of the Sea Chest as a restaurant. We think of it as a dear old relative.

This is a quaint restaurant on the Cambrian coastline. They only take cash and do not serve water (you have to buy bottled due to water conservation). Note that most food items are not local but some are. Regardless, the meal was fantastic. Their clam chowder is the best I have had in the area bar none. Everything was cooked to perfection. A great place!

I have lived in the area all my life and i travel all over the US for work and this is hands down the best Seafood i have ever had. My favorite spot is at the bar. There is a bar that wraps around the kitchen so you can see all of the wonderful food being prepared. My dinners usually last about two to three hours. We take our time with some great wine( you can bring your own) and wonderful appetizers like Clams Casino or some of the best Calamari Steaks you have tasted. Fish is always cooked to perfection. You will not be disappointed. They do not take reservations and it is CASH only

We have been coming to the Sea Chest for 25 years. Always look forward to eating here during our trips a few times a year. Visited here May 5, 2014. The place was not crowded, we were seated right away. Our waitress was at tall, thin, blonde lady, she did not give her name. She seated us but did not take our order for 35 minutes. We did have a party of six. It seemed she was trying to accomodate the smaller parties. We could actually make eye contact with her but then she just turned away. Dinner was $335.00 not including drinks. Dinner was o.k. I would say our service was less than acceptable. Not only did our waitress pretty much ignore us, she seemed actually snotty. If you are going to charge the prices they are asking they had better do something about their service. Obviously been coming here too long. The prices are real high even for this economy, Service is terrible.

Was a bit skeptical after reading a few negative reviews. The food was excellent, restaurant was rustic and different but with white table cloths. Both the food and service were both very good. I had the morro bay oysters and the california white seabass. Both were excellent. My wife had the steamed clams and clam linguine. Would definately go here again.
