Madeline's

Our 29th anniversary dinner at Madelines couldn't have gone off better. From the first sip of Campaign to the tastings of wine to choose a nice Cabernet for our dinner. The food, the people... the simple yet elegant setting was all in a night's celebration. Thank you David for providing us with a memory we will hold near and dear for a long time.
My wife and I dined here recently and I just have to say thatt everything from the ambiance to the food and service was absolutely outstanding!!! Madeline's is a must if your in Cambria, Ca.
Whoa! This chef really knows his/her business. tiny little place on the main street, as soon as you go inside you feel welcomed and greeted by very friendly staff. I wasn't expecting a great dinner, I was so wrong, it was extremely well prepared, food was very original and the flavors were just excellent. A wide variety on the menu makes it difficult to pick a plate, all the plates that we ordered were first class cuisine. Many other restaurants in big cities should learn from Madeline's. Thank you guys!
This restaurant is family run. The chef/owner's wife and son serve. Everyone is kind and personable. The service is extraordinary and the food is exquisite. It is now one of my favorite restaurant's ever. From the appetizers, to the salads, to the entrees, to the desserts, everything is beautifully presented and delicious.
We had a group of 4 people to celebrate a birthday (10/7/11). The noise level was outrageously high; despite that, the restaurant was playing jangly music which exacerbated the problem. We knew the prices were really high before we reserved, but we had been assured that the food was outstanding and worth it. At $30-$40 per person expectations run very high and those expectations were not met. The butter lettuce salad was decent, but our friends who splurged for the buffalo ravioli were very disappointed and more than half was left. The service was good, but she didn't ask why so much of this appetizer was left. Two people ordered the scallops special entree and they said it was okay. I ordered the duck and it was quite tough. The filet someone else ordered was cooked in a wine sauce that came very close to overpowering the filet's flavor. Toward the end of the meal, the service deteriorated and we decided against dessert. About dessert---bananas foster was their main dessert and prepared table side. Nice, BUT the person who prepared it walked from the back of the restaurant to the front, and around the restaurant WITH THE TORCH LIT the whole time!!! A little crazy and very dangerous. The bill for 4 people with just 2 beers and one glass of wine was about $245 with tax and tip. It was our one truly disappointing experience in beautiful Cambria. Something needs to be done about the noise level and at least a small reduction in some of the higher prices, is warranted.
