Wheel Life Cyclery

Having spoken to Chris on the phone about bikes, and tandems in particular, his knowledge and helpfulness was by far the best I have encounter in either BC or Alberta. Once at the shop, his advice was brilliant. The speed of turnaround was phenomenal and the quality of work completed excellent. I cannot emphasise more how great Real Life Cyclery are. Helpful, fast and extremely professional.

Warning about Wheel Life in Okotoks. In Dec 2013 Chris Brown the owner and I spoke about him building me a custom bike for an early 2015 tour. After months I never got the bike then waited over a month for reimbursement of $3360. Went to another shop for a quote where I was told he has a reputation for taking custom orders, not delivering the goods and customers having to ask for their money back. Make of this what you will. This was not a straightforward deal, I was offered no explanation whatso ever as to why the non-delivery. Sickness in the family? Problems?Overwhelmed by summer? I felt I was left hanging way too often and spooked about whether I would even get my refund. Not good. It all began when he said he wanted to propose to a couple of his clients that they buy a Rohloff hub at cost so he could get the experience of building a Rohloff set up. I asked if he and I could do this. This would save me $800 I figured and help him advance too. Over the winter we’d agreed I’d have my parts list ready before summer hit which I did. March 2014 I paid the 50% dep then the remainder for a total of $3360 a week later as a gesture of appreciation and to pave the way for him. Five months later in mid-Aug upon further futile calls and emails and visits from a 100+km away, I gave him two weeks to come up with the bike or refund the dough. Nine days into this two weeks I get a sign of life yet with no ETA given on the assembly. Sept 8 I ask for refund. Sept 18, 2014 Chris acquiesces to my request for refund, that it will go back on my credit card. Oct 8, I get “cheque is getting sent out ‘today’ ” Oct 15, Two weeks later no cheque yet, I email - never receive reply. Oct 21, 2014 nothing received. I call & am told it was put on my card back on Oct 15. Thanks for telling me lol. End of sad story in the bike world. from HerouxMarc whose Google account doesn't allow for reviews for some reason

We were getting ready for a bike tour across Canada and the team at Wheel Life was wonderful! We spent an entire afternoon at the shop going over the accessories that we still needed, all the spare parts and the last-minute maintenance. Chris was really knowledgeable about touring in general and surly disc truckers specifically. He was also able to provide us with lots of personal advice which was awesome. Despite being out in Okotoks, this is my favourite bike store in the Calgary area.

Have bought 3 bikes along with various parts from here. The friendly staff and personal service keeps me coming back.

The BEST bike shop I've ever been too. To put it simply, Chris is a bike god! He set us up for our first bike touring trip and made sure that we knew everything about our bikes. He goes out of his way to make sure that his customers are happy and that their bikes are top notch. If you have any bike needs, this is the place to go :)
