Nice place to hangout

After eating and drinking at the HWY several times in the last year I must say the food has been very good. The service is also always VERY good and the facilities top notch. It's certainly not the type of place I'd want to spend a Friday or Saturday night as the crowd gets a bit 'try hard yuppie' but the front bar is always friendly and the staff and food make up for it. Outdoor area is great (especially if you want to watch some sport on the big screen), the bottle shop is well stocked and with good staff. Certainly one of the better suburban pubs I visit, as long as it's not Friday or Saturday night.

My experience with the Highway is that the staff are very well trained and they are very service oriented. Order something from the bar and they talk to you like you’re a good friend. Have a meal in the bistro and you will find that they are very attentive to your needs without being overbearing. They also tend to hold lots of weird and quirky functions like movie nights, UFC fight screenings, karaoke and single bingo so they are very willing to accommodate people with a wide range of tastes. They are also very responsive to complaints and not like one of those places that ignores you if you have a problem. They are also very tech savvy, last time I was there I got a free drink for checking into Foursquare. They’ve got all bases covered good food, great service, interesting events, ridiculously good looking patrons and a nice friendly atmosphere.

This has got to be the best meal I have had in quite a long time. I was tempted to try the Veal Schniztel, but the incredibly friendly and knowledgeable waiter, James, offerred the Salmon (fish of the day). Thank God I went with that! It was mouthwatering and the flavours were perfect! James really knows his stuff. He knows the ins and outs of the kitchen, he knew all the specials, and ingredients, by heart. Most wait-staff barely know just the specials. His knowledge impressed me as did the service of all the other staff. Albeit there were some rowdy kids, whose parents didn't know how to control them (word of advice, don't bring your kids here if they're tempted to touch fire and ruin everyone else's dinner, der!) We also had the Garlic and Paprika bread (YUM) and a side of house salad, side of mushrooms (some of the best mushrooms i've had) and we also had a main of meatballs, and the salt and pepper squid. All were cooked and served to perfection. Finished off with a hot chocolate that was to die for! The decor is relaxing and the tables are well set out. The service is definitely 11 out of 10! I will definitely be back! Thank You!
