Hotel Mercure Sydney International Airport

I wasn't all that impressed with our 2 night stay at the Mercure. I understand that they are undergoing some changes in their carpark and surrounding area however the staff are just not that nice about anything. Our first night was pretty bad, we were so tired due to our circumstances, final preparations for our move to the UK and handing over our house, all we wanted was a nice meal, a quiet room and a good nights sleep. This was not to be had. There was a conference group in the hotel and clearly SUPERSAVERS have too much money as it would appear the bar was open to all in attendance. Comings and goings all night with loud and unruly guests waking us many times through the night. Our door keys worked on and off and on one particular occasion I had to go back down to the reception desk to have the key re-activated. The front counter staff couldn't care less. Our second night was a little better but having said all that and given the fact that we paid full rack rate for the room, there is no way I would recommend this hotel to anyone in the future. Oh and with conventions in the hotel we couldnt get near the bar or the restaurant for a meal and had to go out of the complex for dinner and breakfast. Not at all acceptable in our circumstance. We have stayed in many Mercure facilities over the years and this is the one that I was least happy with. Lift your game Mercure Sydney International Airport.
Stayed here before early flight out to Fiji! Food was yummy in the restaurant, room was beautiful and all the staff were lovely and helpful. Definitely a great place so start your holiday.
was not at all what it said it would be and alot further from things then said as well not staying there againa and not recomending it to any one
I guess if you desperately needed a place to stay overnight because you had an early flight the next day, this would suffice. Otherwise, stay away at all costs! My mom had emergency surgery and had to extend her stay here in Australia. As she had nowhere else to stay after she was discharged, she was booked into this hotel. Comments: - key card they initially gave us wasn't working, had to get a new one - no complementary water (hmmm sorry but I thought complementary water was standard in hotels?). The bar was empty too. Instead there were 2 vending machines near the lifts, 1 of which wasn't working. In order to operate the vending machine, you had to get a separate card from reception - while trying to reach housekeeping, I kept getting a busy signal. When I finally tried the operator, they said housekeeping was closed (I wish they had a message or something saying that or routed the call to reception instead) - we were disturbed past 11 PM by someone insisting we had ordered room service (we hadn't) - my mom asked about a special she had seen online about Internet & parking. The girl at reception said they didn't have that promo in that particular hotel. We checked again online, yes they did have it. - parking is at $20/day. I had decided to stay with my mom to help her recuperate, so had to go to work from the hotel. I gave my parking card to reception and asked her if I could have parking charged to the room. She said yes and gave me a new card to put in. When I put it in, it said I had to pay the cashier! The intercom button wasn't working so I had to go back to reception and explain to her what happened. She apologized and said she would keep an eye out for my car at the boom gate and open it. So I drove back to the boom gate... nothing. In fact, a line of cars had formed behind me, so I decided to leave to let them pass. Went back after the line had passed... nothing. Realized nothing was happening. Really frustrated at this point so went back to reception, asked them to PLEASE let me leave parking. She said she had told me to wait at the boom gate and she'd opened it for me. Hello, I was there for ages to the point that a line was behind me, and nothing was happening. I had waited for AGES. Finally someone agreed to let me out manually. (I may continue to update this, as of writing I am still keeping my mom company.)
