March 2015... I have been coming to the Shift for 17 years and has been my first port of call on Oxford Street always... But recently I have had to change my rating to "Disliked it" - They have redone the bar and looks great. However you do notice that it is aiming towards a mix straight/gay bar - and that's fine as I have no problems with that at all... So... This is not the bars fault but I heard 2 straight guys in there putting down gay people in conversation - I mentioned it on facebook and said I hope they keep the shift as a safe place for the gay and lesbian community - which they promptly deleted the comment. I mean deleting the comment just sort of made me realise that it's probably time to move to another bar. Kinda sad but it is what Oxford St has kinda become these days... I had fun Shift, great memories and met some amazing people but now it's time to say Goodbye. Review up to 2004... 4 stars Great bar. Alcohol is quite cheap before 9 and great for afternoon drinks. Crowd gets good around 9ish. Bar staff are really good.

GROUND LEVEL This is a cool stop if you want to know how varied the themes can get on Oxford street. It is more of a dark bar/club with black interiors attracting various crowds. Themes may include leather, bears, chubs, mature, asians and the trendy that frequent this venue. The music is pretty good with remixes of pop and R&B all through. Drag shows are present here, but not the feature of this club. There are 2 bars and have varying programs for each day of the week. UPPER LEVEL THere is also a CLUB upstairs, which is separate to the Ground Level. There is usually a cover charge on Saturdays, but may or may not apply for Friday nights depending on whether it is Summer or Winter. This level has a large dancefloor and laser/flouro lights. It has the largest stage for performances here. The drag shows here are the most elaborate with the best choreography and lighting and backdrops. The best shows are usually the finales for the night, i.e. at 3am on Saturday morning and Sunday morning. So if you are staying, it will be worth your while ! Most performing drag go all out with their make up and costumes here - definitely worth the wait.

It is a nice bar which had reasonable priced alcohol and a good atmosphere. They had a good deal on beer which lasted till 9PM to which then the price of alcohol went up. All in all it was a nice bar. It is really a good place to enjoy with the friends and have a lot of fun with good musics

I went to Midnight shift not long after i arrived in sydney from the UK. It was a nice bar which had reasonable priced alcohol and a good atmosphere. However i went at around 4PM so it wasnt too busy but it looked as if it would get very lively and fun later on. They had a good deal on beer which lasted till 9PM to which then the price of alcohol went up. All in all it was a nice bar. However although advertising itself as an LGBT bar it seemed to be very male dominated- even the bar staff were all male the time i was there.

This nightlclub it's awesome. There's a lot of cultural people and you can dance all night. The prices are afordable and it's a nice option for meet someone special or international people. I recommend to arrive there at 11 p.m
