Hills' Restaurant & Lounge
Reviews
Some of the worst service I have ever recieved. My wife and I were visiting Spokane for the first time, and we wanted to place to grab dinner and some drinks. The service was some of the worst we have ever recieved for a variety of reasons, the staff was rude, even though the place was nearly empty it took us 20 minutes to get two drinks, and to top it off....they were not what we had ordered .Our server was bussing tables and seemed more interested in chatting up the bartender then taking our orders. After our server walking by us and ignoring us time and time again we finally got up and walked out - and we were not the only ones, the couple sitting at the table next to us also walked out. Mabey they were just having an off night....but we could have gotten better service at Taco Bell. I would not recomend the Hills to any Spokane visitors.
Thanks to their bizarre methods of customer service, I still haven't eaten at Hills' Restaurant & Lounge. A group of friends and I went into Hills' earlier this summer around 5 pm hoping to get a good meal. When we walked into the restaurant, we were immediately cut off by the hostess who informed us that they were about an hour to an hour and a half behind so they weren't seating people at this time. The restaurant was almost empty except for a handful of tables with groups of 2-5 people. It was Hoopfest weekend so if it had been packed, this would have been completely understandable. Due to the lack of patrons in the restaurant and the fact that we asked if the other tables were reserved and she said no, we were utterly confused. She then offered that we could wait at the bar but it would be at least an hour before we could place orders for food of any sort. We declined and decided to go The Steelhead where we get much better service and actually got food. To this day, we have no idea why they were so far behind. Even if it was a case of only having one chef on hand, someone didn't show up to work, someone went home sick, etc. it doesn't make sense why she wouldn't have explained the situation and instead was rather rude which completely turned us off. I walk by this restaurant quite often and still haven't eaten there and probably won't eat there because that incident is still fresh in my mind.
Very enjoyable. They went out of their way to make the experience great. I ordered the bouillabaisse, and was initially told it was off the menu for the evening. The staff purposefully checked, and based on ingredients arriving late in the day, the chef made bouillabaisse with saffron. It was amazing! Cooked fresh and the flavors were so distinct. This is a family establishment with deep Spokane roots. If you are coming to Spokane, this must be on your list for lunch or dinner!
My friend and I were traveling in downtown spokane after a convention at the convention center, when we stumbled upon a restaurant that seemingly was named after my last name! My friend and I both ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and I could say that I DIED after I tasted the home made bread. The home made chips were excellent, and the home made Jalapeno ice cream was great. Out of a ten, I would give this small restaurant an eleven. I have traveled back from Portland Oregon twice since then, just to eat at my favorite restaurant. Hills'.
Their Chicken Satay is great
