Coffee Works Cafe

I love getting coffee, goodies, and hanging out at CoffeeWorks! Their chai latte and other beverages are SO good. I like that they mix it up every so often and bring in new pastries, soup, and sandwiches. Having meetings there is great because they have white boards everywhere so we can get good ideas out while sitting amongst modern, edgy decor and listening to snazzy background music. They have a baby grand piano and occasionally VT music student will come by to give an impromptu concert; it is such a delightful venue!
I love the new decor! I have always had a great experience at CoffeeWorks. I really enjoy their sandwiches and YES Starbucks coffee. I have meetings there often and it is a great atmosphere to talk with co-workers or friends. I would recommend it to anyone.
Great food, coffee, and service!
I held a staff meeting at CoffeeWorks earlier this week. We all ordered drinks and muffins/breakfast sandwiches. We were greeted by a very friendly staff member and the food was wonderful. I had a banana nut muffin that was very fresh and moist. Thank you CoffeeWorks for providing such a great place to meet that included a friendly staff and wonderful food. I look forward to our next staff meeting.
I do not plan to go back to this coffee shop. My friends and I were treated very rudely. Here's what happened: I joined my three friends at this coffee shop today, after they had been there for about a half an hour. Between the four of us, we purchased 6 drinks, a muffin, and a sandwich. About 20 minutes into my stay, a woman (who I presumed to be the manager) carrying boxes approached our table and barked "sir, you cannot have that in here! This is a restaurant! No outside food and drinks are allowed!" My friend had a tupperware of salad that he was NOT eating on the table. We were taken aback at her tone, but began discussing where to store the tupperware, since my friend did not have his car with him. Not a minute later, the woman approached our table and barked at us again, "you need to get that out of here! It's not my rule, it's a health code violation! And, you can't have those water bottles here either!"--she gestured to my friends' water bottles, which they had PURCHASED FROM THE CAFE. We were very turned off at this point and began discussing relocation options. The woman approached us yet again with a really nasty tone, and we explained that we were planning to leave. Now, I understand that there are health codes that need to be followed. And, I understand that coffee shops need to make money and it isn't fair for us to bring outside food or drinks. But, there is absolutely no need for the extremely terse, rude, aggressive treatment we received. I was at first very hopeful that my friends and I had found a quiet, work-friendly place to collaborate. I even suggested that we begin meeting there regularly (we meet almost daily to work), but now we have all decided never to return. Perhaps this is why the coffee shop was empty when we arrived. With this sort of hostility and lack of respect for customers, I can't imagine that they will stay in business for long. I recommend Next Door Bake Shop, Mill Mountain, or Bollo's as alternatives.
