The Pocahoptas is the best IPA in Virginia! I LOVE COTU!
Some of the crew ventured out to the Center of the Universe for happy hour recently and found that the contrary to her claims, Brittany Spears is not actually the center of the universe, and in fact it's much closer to Richmond VA than anyone had previously guessed! Not only that, but we discovered that excellent locally brewed beer is the most important substance known to man, at the Center of the Universe. The COTU Brewery is still fairly young on the Richmond brewery scene, but has made a very strong and favorable impression in the short time that it's been around. There are a number of brews on tap with some interesting options and the staff is exuberant about sharing their impressions of the nuances of the variations with you. Tasting beer definitely becomes a social activity at this brewery. A point that really makes the brewery stand out is the very nice and modern'ish facilities with a great outdoor picnic area just out the back door. The evening we visited there was a food truck serving and a bluegrass band playing for our entertainment. Plenty of seating and tables made it easy to settle in for a great summer evening.
