The Blu Pig
Reviews

This is a review for my visit to the Blu Pig on March 14, 2014. The Blu Pig, rocks! The service was excellent. The food was fantastic. The Atmosphere was great and overall energy of this establishment feels positive. People seem to like working there. We had a large group of with us resulting in multiple people service us. I do not remember her name, but the waitress that took our order was the most "on-it" waitress I have ever encountered. There was no BS with her. Not only did she have to tackle about 17 orders, but she got everything RIGHT...AND, when we requested that the bills be all separate, she didn't even flinch. She handled it all quickly and efficiently. The Blu Pig isn't high cuisine. But what it does for the customer and their bellies put's it far, far above many five star restaurants that I've been to. I highly recommend this place.

The best bbq spot outside of the bbq capitals of the US that I've been to. Hardworking and friendly staff, great selection of blues music playing, and most importantly really, really great food in a town sadly short of it make Blu Pig an easy choice for dinner after hiking and mountain biking all over the red rock all day. Love you guys, don't ever change!

3 stars. Would have been 2 if not for our server. There are better places in MOAB. Fine for a week stay to get some variety in, try somewhere else if only in town for a day or 2. Service: Probably a better place (most likely a 3) if you know what not to order and are not dealing with the types of crowds we were. It was very obvious the hostess had no idea how to time out a proper wait. She just gave everyone who came in a "20 to 25 minute" wait regardless of how many people were waiting. Ours was 40. They should probably invest in some software that tracks turnover times. They were using a legal pad and a pencil and guessing poorly. Food: Completely hit and miss meat and sides. Burnt ends were terrible. They were pork for some reason, not beef, and very fatty; they were not very burnt either. Hash-brown casserole was amazing, pulled pork was great, Cajun sausage was mediocre. Brisket was amazing. The "pulled pork red beans and rice" side was unanimously hated, just an awful dish. IF (big if) you are able to cobble together the best selection of meats and sides, and if the hostess is able to get a handle on how to seat people, and you get the one awesome server we got, then this place might be worth a try if you have tried the other good places and just want some variety.

Food was great. Service outstanding. Drinks were good. Solid atmosphere. It will be our first dining stop the next time we are in Moab.

BIG AND NASTY with a good IPA.
