Blu Restaurant | Lounge

My wife, daughter, and I went to Blu a few days ago. It was great. The food was excellent. The Malay Curry Noodles were sublime as were the Spicy Green Beans. The Black Bean Soup was good, but not breathtaking. My wife loved the Spring Rolls. I was a bit more neutral. Overall, the food was every bit as good as Gigi's (the Blu chef came from Gigi's which is now closed) if not better. An interesting note is that Blu has great deserts. That's rare for an Asian restaurant and much appreciated. My wife liked the drinks. Only one real negative. The rice was average (to be nice about it). You would expect a great Asian restaurant to have high quality rice. Blu is pricey, but so was Gigi's (which we loved).
i did stop by with my wife to have couple hours of fun.we have six margaritas small drinks serve on a plastic cap in the rocks.when i ask for my bill .this is what i got...$77.88 just for six drinks?? iask the bartender why my bill was so much..she said she charge 54 .00 for 6 patrons and six times 2.00 for the margarita mix ice and salt. on top of this 11.88 for tip that's is 18% gratuity, only 2 people and 6 drinks...i did call 2 twice asking to talk with the manager in charge, was not manager in duty, the person who answer the phone told me mananger will return you call later when he comes in...no body call me back..i did call second time i got a voice mail, hours later still waiting for a phone call..i do want to disputed this bill....sorry service really expenser bill.....i will call back many times i need to talk with the mananger..
My friend and I walk up to the place. I'm rocking a nice dress shirt, non-holey jeans, and new tennis shoes. The guy at the front told me that my tennis shoes weren't allowed at Blu. I look down and notice his black converse shoes. I look around at the people inside and notice other guys in shorts, t-shirts, and sandals. I point this out and he gets security to walk up because I am blocking the line. Winning personality this place. Must have been too fat or not have a woman on my arm. I miss when this place was the Loggia. Had a lot better memories and people looked like they had a lot more fun. It was a saturday night around 11pm and not a single person was dancing. The women that I noticed from the side lines looked really bored and I honestly wasn't too interested in checking the place out in the first place and after the "profiling" I and anyone I can tell won't either. Just walk a little more to the flying saucer for a drink or into houston if you want a place to go dancing or take a girl to have fun.
You have to love a place that has door guys checking for dress code and has a valet area full of Toyotas and Ford Escorts. This place is crap but people in the 'burbs don't know any better I guess.
Food is great. Actually the whole place is great till it turns into a night club. I guess it works when you cater to under age girls. Rape fest At BLU!
