I don't understand why people don't like this restaurant. My wife and I moved here from downtown. We ate Asian /Vietnamese food on a regular basis (because we love it !)at very well known respected restaurants in the midtown area of Houston. And I can tell you this, this place is up there with all of those! I've ordered from café 1979 at least 30 times since I've moved here and there restaurant is very clean, the staff are very polite and respectful. They always deliver in a timely manner and the food is soooo delicious!!! If you enjoy eating gressy,nasty, processed buffet food this is not the pace for you. That place is just down the road. Keep up the good work café 1979!

Been in a few times. Shrimp lo mein and hot and sour soup is my favorite dish and they did not disappoint! friendly staff and quality food. If you are looking for a reasonably priced quiet atmosphere look no further.

I live in a closed condo community with a sign at the entrance that says no soliciting and no trespassing. I have had to contact this company more than three times. I've contacted the city manager who has spoken to them before, and I've also had to contact the police. They just placed another advertisement and menu on my door. They have been asked to not trespass before, and have been asked again not to trespass. I'm not sure what the law is in Texas about trespassing once you've been warned but there has to be something we can do to stop this company from continuing to harass our community with their spam. We've tried to be nice but we are left to take it to the city manager once again. The next time the are on MY property and touching MY door there will be a definite problem. I have asked them more than once to stop touching my property and they will not stop. We even have signs written in plain english for anyone to read.

I've been eating here for the last two years and the food is delicious! I highly recommend their salt and pepper wings or lettuce wraps. I've never been disappointed with anything ordered and the service is very friendly. People that are complaining about the Vietnamese food at 1979 should go to a Vietnamese restaurant, because the Chinese food is great and affordable.
