Stopped by for a brisket sandwich on my drive thru town. Great service and the moist brisket was excellent as expected, but what amazed me was the banana pudding! Best I've ever had anywhere. Will go back just for that.

As a long-time resident of the Johnson City area (now ex), I have had many a meal at Ronnie's, and never in 6 years of visits have I had a bad meal. I love the cucumber/tomato salad that seems to, for some reason, taste better than at other places. In fact, you could say that is what kept me and keeps me coming back. I have, on many occasions, carried out whole briskets, cooked and frozen, to parties and family gatherings. Ronnie just needed a couple of days notice, and he would have it completely set up and ready to go. Ronnie also cooks for US Boer Goat Ass'n thing they have in JC every year. I've never eaten his goat, but if it is anything like his ribs, it is probably the best I have ever tasted. I love goat, and have always cooked it in the same fire as ribs. His ribs are so delicious, so flavorful, so meaty. I don't know where he gets them (maybe the local butcher?), but they are like chops, they are so meaty and delicious. His barbecue pits are pitiful. overloaded, and obviously cheaply constructed, but they work. The proof is the final product. His hamburgers on Wednesday are out of sight. Oh- if you pull up and he has an "out of food" sign in the door, you could probably still buy beer, maybe a candy bar, but no barbeque. You just drove an hour from Austin through some of the worst traffic congestion in the city, but you are probably several hours late. I have seen the "out of food" sign in place by 2 in the afternoon. Go early for lunch. He usually starts cutting meat at 10:30 or so. Be there by 11, and enjoy a full menu of smoked meats. And a good part of your experience will be standing in line with 5 or 10 locals. There are some colorful folks there in JC. Try a pork steak and an almost illegally cold beer . I know- I've had it too, but it never has tasted like it does there. Delicious!

Ronnie's BBQ, Is even better now than when i was a kid. The chop beef is awesome and so is everything you can order from the menu. FRESH BBQ..... not dry... good people & good food... A++++++++++++++++ Thanks, Ryan
