TEXAN CAFE & Pie Shop
Reviews
My family and I went to the Texan Cafe for the first time today and we loved it! I had the Cobb salad which was incredible and homemade blueberry pie (yum). Service was super friendly and the atmosphere was wonderful. Felt like great old fashioned (real) customer service and home cooking that can't be beat. We will be back!
Heartbreaking to hear the story of the young lady employee who battles with acne. One of the owners asked her what was wrong with her face because she didn't have makeup on that day. She replied she can't wear makeup everyday due to her acne. His reply was you need to put makeup on so you don't scare my customers. The girl burst out in tears and was so upset and hurt she walked out. I will never return.
Horrible... embarrassing to take my family to..ate my tiny sandwich and mini spoon of mashpotatoes in 30 seconds. and family had tiny tough piece of chicken with tiny spoonfuls of potatoe. should be called Tiny food cafe...my whole family left hungry still
This place is worth the drive from Austin. It's in Hutto's small but quaint downtown area with great southern homecooked meals. I'm a carnivore but I'll have their veggies anyday! Save room for their homemade pies. For a real deal, go during Pie Happy Hour. Their Brandy Apple Pie Ala Mode is to die for! It's served on a piping hot cast iron skillet...makes my mouth water.
The chicken-fried steak was like a cube steak in a fried batter pocket. It slipped out, leaving me with an empty pocket of fried batter and a piece of cube steak. The steak was anything but fork tender, but it was okay. The breading was okay. The chicken-fried chicken looked great and my daughter enjoyed it. My son really liked the bacon cheeseburger. My wife ordered the Port Isabel Chicken, and it was the worst. It was dry (the shrimp was dry as cardboard, and the chicken just a little less dry), tasteless, and way overpriced. Everyone loved their pie selections. I got the blackberry cobbler with ice cream and it was excellent.
