John T. Floore's Country Store

It may be a great dance hall, but for lunch? I got a chicken fried steak sandwich. Any place else there would be at least a quarter inch of steak hanging out all around the bun, instead I got a bun that completely hid the steak. And just average taste for that. The Sonic sandwich beat this one. Next time I'll just wait until I get back to Biff Buzby's, or any of a dozen other places. Now my wife said that her turkey was very good. What there was of it. Two skinny slabs on a huge bun. She cut the bun in half and put everything on it. They need to do the turkey sandwich on just bread. One slice. And to top it off, my fries were cold. (Yes, I picked it up as soon as the number came up) But the tea was very good!
Impossible to Put Into Words This is, hands down, the absolute best place to see your favorite Texas Country singer/songwriter. Now, don't get me wrong, there are some other quintessential landmarks to go see when wanting a true Texas dancehall experience, but, John T. Floore's is it. I was lucky enough to see Robert Earl Keen, Jr. record (part of) his #2 Diner album. Best show ever. Well, then there was that time I saw Kevin Fowler. And of course I've seen Cory and Pat play there, those were great too. Oh, yeah, got to see Creager (another great show). What I'm trying to say is, make a trip down Old Bandera Rd. in Helotes to see anybody. It's not going to matter 'cuz you're going to have a great time. Besides, even Willie sang about old John T. Floore himself. That's endorsement enough! Oh, and the food's pretty darn good, too.
Loved the open air concerts

Dang good Texas food in a real Texas restaurant and dance hall. If you live here, you probably already know about the place. If you are from San Antonio and don't know about it, do yourself a favor and go. If you are from out of town, and want the real deal, no need to look further. Honky-tonk+++.
