Blue Fin Restaurant And Bar
Reviews
Outstanding food, we shared the Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops and a side salad with a 1/2 bottle of 7 Deadly Zins. The manager John was eager to answer our questions about the ingredients (we're picky eaters) and about wine pairing. Very well informed and helpful, despite how busy it was. I normally never think twice about a side salad but this had apples poached in wine & blue cheese that just made my mouth water! Overall, excellent. The weather wasn't right for eating outside this time of year but the patio looked very inviting.
I was in town for my nephew's basic training graduation, and my family had a taste for seafood. I searched for 'Seafood Restaurants' near my hotel. I came across Blue Fin and reviewed the menu online and thought that it would be fun to try something different. After all, I'm out of town...I can always have the Red Lobsters and the Olive Gardens any day. The family and I arrived here and was seated right away. The waitress was very helpful and always checked on us between bites. Between the four of us, we ordered 3 seafood platters and a seafood pasta dish. We were stuffed and happy by the time we were done. Great food! Great service, and the atmosphere and location was great! Definitely recommend this place, especially for those who are out of town that are looking for some good seafood. There are other food options as well. I'll definitely be back again when I'm riding through Columbia, SC!
Nice restaurant. The decor is nice and the waiter provided good service. I had the lunch portion of Shrimp and Grits which I thought was really good. It wasn't too pricey, paid $11 for the dish. At a minimum I'd come back for the same dish.
I had my worst dining experience ever at Bluefin. The waitress apparently was totally out of it all night. The night started poorly when she poured a full drink into my wife's lap. Every salad order was wrong. She got one order completely wrong. We had to ask three times for a side item to come out. We had to ask multiple times for a drink. My wife's salad came out as an entree with her entree. We even had to ask multiple times for napkins to help dry up the mess. Very limited concern for the poor service from our waitress. Ultimately, no allowance was given on the bill. We were assuming a free drink for having one spilled in the lap, but nothing came out (and the bill was mixed up as well). We asked the manager for a comment card, then let him know a fraction of our issue when he asked what was wrong. The waitress became belligerent and angry that we had "decided to tell the manager" about some of our issues. Terrible dining experience for us. The food was mostly edible but it is hard to fix a terrible dining experience. Steak was well-done on one end, pink on the other. Gumbo was inedible. The culinary high point of the night was the side of collard greens. If you have to go here, just hit the bar. They have decent beers on tap and the bartenders generally are not too out of it. And just order collard greens if you have to eat here.
Had a great time and a exceptional meal at Blue Fin. I was apprehensive going in as some reviewers noted it was too expensive for the quality of food served. I found it to be worth it. Good menu, though I do not feel the descriptions of the meals were as adequate as they could have been. Also had a decent wine list. Will be back.
