The back mountain area has been in desperate need of a true coffee shop. Thank God one has finely arrived, and it may be the best in a five county region. The European Coffee House to begin with has the actual feel of a coffee house. It is comfortable, has a warm feel, European look, and every detail seems to have been well thought through. The owner is pleasant, knowledgable, and friendly. The first time I went to it I found the coffee watery but to my surprise they readjusted the blend and now the arabic coffee in my opinion has the best taste in NE Pa. There isn't a large selection of sandwiches but each one is distinct from the standard sandwiches you get everywhere. I particularly love the Prague breakfast sandwich that contains a unique cheese (in addition to spinach). There is also a wide range of European pastries and those I have tried have been excellent. If you love coffee, if you love an environment to talk or just read, you are doing yourself a disservice not enjoying the experience of this Cafe.
