The main menu for breakfast is great, but the owners are always drawing me toward their great specials. My favorite was the French Quarters, cream cheese and strawberry stuffed French toast. -- Mic Lang, the breakfast bro.
My husband and I visited the Mackenzie Cafe twice in the last month. The first time the "country gravy" tasted like paste. We brought it to the owner's attention, and they were very gracious about it. Wanting to give the place another try, we went there this morning. (7/6/13) Hubby ordered the country gravy again, and it was nearly as bad as the first time! It was think, tasteless and barely tasting of sausage at all. This time when we told them, the owner came back out with a small sample of gravy that she'd thinned and pretty much insisted that that took care of the problem. It didn't. I ordered a muffin as my side and it was HUGE. Sadly, it was dry, tasteless and almost inedible. While the owners are really nice and the service excellent, the food just is not up to par, and certainly not what it used to be. We won't go back.
Home style breakfast here at it's best. Like stepping back in time, this place is the real deal!
Mckenzies was a very relaxed and enjoyable restaurant. Great food and the staff always had a smile on their face. I highly recomend Mckensies.
Awesome place. Good food and great owners.
