Great food, super nice bartender (met her when I went to play keno), waitress sucks!! She was short with us from the beginning, put us in the way back where it was cold-I'm guessing because I have a baby, but the restaurant is not even busy. She dropped our food off and didn't say a word, just took off before I could say/ask for anything. I serve for a living so I am more forgiving than most, but there is no excuse for her rudeness and total lack of tact.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Best Chinese food I've had since moving here from San Francisco. Try the House Lo Mein; It's a meal--a big, delicious meal--all by itself. I've been coming here for years. The service is great and menu offers an endless variety of choices.
I will spare you the details. My review boils down to 2 words......absolute rubbish. Would be highly suspicious that many of the positive reviews were left by the owners, friends of the owners, and other people who have never actually eaten there. Avoid this place like Ebola.
The food id OK for Chinese, but could they spend some money on carpeting or at least cleaning. YUCK. I swear the same spots have been there since the 90's. Same splits in vinyl seats ICK. And for the love of God, instead of saying what you want, how about can I help you? Grumps. Not impressed at all.
Chinese garden has some of the best chinese food in Portland with out all that fancy pretentious nonsense you get at expensive restaurants. They give you HUGE PORTIONS! Always enough leftovers for lunch the next day. And the Food is real good especially the House Low Mein, BBQ Pork, Mongolian Beef, Sweet/Sour Chicken. You gotta go if you never been.
