Rogue Ales & Spirits

Great craft beer in a huge complex, with an intimate setting. The bar was packed and only one man was doing the job for both tables and bar... but somehow he managed! I love how it feels like you are in a tiny little wooden bar somewhere, but you are really in a huge, tin brewing complex. You get the anticipation of drinking by walking through a section of the brewery first where you can even glance at the hard workers bottling the beer you are about to enjoy. Will definitely come back!
In a city with good food and service, this brewpub stands out as a sore (dare I say bitter) thumb. I've dined here on multiple occasions and have been consistently surprised by the unprovoked rudeness of the staff. The last time I visited, the waitress at first declined to split our (very simple) check, rudely remarked on how long we had taken to pay (not in a humorous way, either), complained that the two of us paid with different means of payment, and constantly checked back throughout our visit (while still eating our appetizer) if we were ready for the check. We opted not to eat a entree that time due to the rude service. The cuisine and drinks is better than the service, but not enough to merit much of a remak: The food is subpar: appetizers like the bruschetta are filling, but lack flavor. The burger isn't particularly memorable--dry (even when asked to be medium-rae), over-toasted bun, and oily, possibly frozen, french fries (compared to the many great burgers in town, like Brunch Box on SW 9th). The beer is reliable and tasty, but certainly not the best in town. The Orange Honey ale is particularly enjoyable on a sunny day, and the outdoor seating is a nice spot in the Peal to enjoy a brew when the staff doesn't shoo you away. A better bet would be Bailey's Tap Room on Broadway for beer and any of the foodcarts for a filling meal if you're in town for a visit. I'll likely not return.
