My family and I arrived to Garrison's one lonely December night, the kind of night one can often find in Lake George this time of year. Quiet, peaceful, and persistently beautiful. As we got out of the car, I was not the only one to comment upon or admire the large squirrel painted on the sign. Dressed like Bart Simpson, the squirrel, perhaps Garrison himself, beckoned us in, calling "KOOM!" Opening the door, we found an inviting one room pub. With nearly no other customers, it was like we had stepped into family outing heaven, complete with an undersized pool table that massaged your ego and cheap and delicious pub fare, including Sierra Nevada on tap. Someday I hope to return to this magical place, where you could watch hockey and football at the same time, actually get a pool table without a wait, and hold a conversation with your family, all while guzzling down some $2 fries.
Being from the Sacandaga Lake area, we often change the scenery with a trip toLake George. For years, nearly every trip has included a stop at the Garrison. Sometimes for just a cocktail, sometimes to eat as well. We have never come away disappointed! The food is great, the drinks are cold and the service warm. If I lived in LG, odds are good I would make this my regular watering hole!
We were just looking for a bite to eat and stumbled on The Garrison about a mile from our hotel. It's a nice localThe bar with good food at a decent price. The service was fast and friendly. No complaints!
