Bonefish Grill

Can't start to describe the disappointment. When my birthday came around and kids asked me where I wanted to go, they made the 1 hour 15 min drive to bring me to Bonefish. The Lobster bisque was a room temperature bowl of horrid orange salty soup with no signs of lobster. The mashed potatoes & french fries were served at room temperature. Steak fillets not cooked as ordered. Thankfully the bang bang shrimp were as I remember or we would have walked out of the restaurant hungry. Everyone walked away from the table with plates close to full of food. Comments were made "Gee Mom, don't understand why you always found one of these when you traveled, Long drive to still be hungry, or I wouldn't eat here again!"
I have enjoyed going to this restaurant in the past but my visit on 12/30/14 was not up to the previous standard. Not in any particular order: the Guiness came in a can, the portions were small from the calamari appetizer to the tuna steak entrée, I did not think that the tuna was all that tasty, we never got our side order of spaghetti squash albeit when we mentioned that the appetizer cost was removed, and we had to ask for bread. To his credit the waiter saw that the squash was no where near ready when the entrées were ready so he brought them out but then forgot about them. Frankly, I think that was the way to go rather than have the fish sit under the heat lamp waiting for squash. In summary, nothing really bad enough to say don't go but just not as good as other times when I would have recommended it without any reservations.
Called the restaurant Sunday at 5:15 to make a reservation for 6:45 that night. The woman I spoke to took down my name and phone number, and I assumed she'd entered it into the computer. Arrived with my family at 6:40 and was told that we weren't on the reservation list... I explained that I'd just called one hour ago (it was actually 1.5 hours), and the hostess told me that they don't take reservations an hour in advance, though previous Yelp reviews suggest otherwise. The restaurant was packed, and the hostess said she'd seat us as soon as possible, but we'd have to wait for three families ahead of us, which would take about 30 minutes. Waiting that long when we'd already made a reservation seemed ridiculous, so we left. We've been to other Bonefish Grill locations before, and the food is good, but it's still just a standard franchise and certainly not worth such hassles resulting from bad customer service and poorly trained staff. If you decide to eat here, make a reservation (though the large crowds are sure to die down soon), but be sure to get the host's name on the phone!
Overall ok. Service is always great. Foods been so so lately. Drinks too expensive. We'll go back for specials.
Service was quick, but we were initially seated in the VERY loud bar area, right at the door. We asked to move and we seated at the kitchen door. Service was quick (we felt rushed, even though we had called with reservations) and we had a check at our table before we even finished our entrees! Second and last time there.
