Maybe order to go? The food was very good, but not good enough to make up for the overall experience. Party of 2, new to this place but not to E'ville. Went in Sunday morning expecting long waits everywhere, pleasantly surprised when this place wasn't very busy. Stood in the doorway awkwardly for a few minutes until a waitress walked by, asked her if we needed to put our name in or anything. Told us to seat ourselves with an attitude, like we were idiots for not knowing to do so. Grabbed an empty table, sticky as the floor of a crappy movie theatre. Ordered drinks, black coffee and water. Waitress seemed sad & annoyed, blank stare with zero signs of life in her eyes. Ordered breakfast sandwiches, came out pretty quick. Food was awesome, back on track. Finished eating for a while, wanting the check. Depressed waitress behind the counter on her iPhone, she's in no rush. Walk up to counter, ask for check. She hands it to me, no eye contact or other pleasantries. I ask for a to-go cup of black coffee, she looked at me like I asked her to build a time machine. After processing my request she says Yes, but instead walks to the other end of the counter and strikes up a conversation with someone. A different girl behind the counter got me my coffee. Bottom line; Order to-go, try somewhere else, or eat in.
Favorite place in town for coffee and a sandwich. Go here waayyyyy more often than I should. Staff is extremely nice....almost too nice. Breakfast meals are my favorite, however I would always recommend whatever they have on special and their soup.
Way, way better than most "places of this type", which I would describe as: eggs in the morning, ice cream in the afternoon, coffee and sandwiches any time. On our first day in E'ville we dragged in for ice cream and coffee when we arrived around 3PM. The coffee was great: *strong enough* -- rare in "places of this type". Ice cream was good too, and you can get a milk shake made from real ice cream, if you ask, instead of the dribble from the machine. The second day we went in for breakfast. Eggs. On the third day we ordered ham and eggs. The ham was cut from a real ham. You know, not one of those round or square loaves made from pieces of meat glued together. Coffee again delicious. Eat inside or out. Clientele locals plus low-life tourists like us. Service with a smile. You'll come back. Or anyway, we did.
