Absolutely unique. I laughed when I read reviews from the people with screaming kids being asked to leave. THANK YOU....I go out rarely and only to the very best (like C.Rel) and I resent the intrusion by undisciplined children...so don't blame the owner. We. Want. It. That. Way!!! The French-style food at this place is indescribably delicious. The sauces and deserts are to drive 60 miles for (which we do). We love to tease our guests..."We're going to eat at the 'gas station'"..and watch them when the door opens and a waft of a little bit of HEAVEN hits us!!! Thank you to the owner/chef, & to Bill, the best waiter in the USA --and to those who keep this cash-only place hi-quality!!
This restaurant is very unique....but the food was just "okay." We had a party of 9, and had to be split up. I had the pot roast - which had a nice flavor but nothing too spectacular. My husband and father had the philly and they said it was terrible. My grandmother had the Hot Pastrami, and she loved it. My aunt had the flounder sandwich and she loved it as well. My counsins had pasta dishes which were mediocre. On a positive note, the wait staff was very nice and the chips are great. Make sure you bring CASH OR A CHECK. They do not accept credit cards.
we had lunch there enjoyed the catfish sandwich so much , we came back for dinner. fantastic atmosphere and food.
They made me a very happy and suprised hiker with a wonderful selection of vegetarian food. I went three time in my two day stay in Franklin.
I had to convince my husband to stop ... he was skeptical of a restaurant that shared restrooms with a gas station convenience store. He changed his mind when we stepped inside. It's very small and the food and service were excellent. This is a hidden gem in the Smoky Mtns and the food was far better and more reasonably priced than anywhere we had been west of the mountains. I was amazed they would take our out of state check but not a credit/debit card ... but that was fine with us. I highly recommend Caffe Rel!
