We went to Kathryn's for dinner and had a wonderful meal. They do not take reservations open at 5pm & quit serving on the weekends by 9-9:30pm, so plan accordingly. The restaurant is decorated very tastefully; loved the lighting, and the tropical arrangements on the tables & around the restaurant. Very nice, upscale place! The appetizers were delicious...We tried the Frito Misto- which included calamari... superb!!, Firecracker Shrimp, and the Spinach & Crab Au Gratin. So good!! We also had the peach martinis; they were nothing special. My husband got the Grouper special, which he raved about! My oldest daughter got the Salmon filet with a raspberry beurre blanc sauce; she said it was awesome, and wouldn't share! I had pan-seared Sea Scallops w/lemon tarragon essence; my mom had a Filet Mignon finished w/cabernet demi reduction..both were fantastic. We finished with creme brulee cheesecake and a chocolate lava cake, both delicious! My husband ordered the coconut cake. I don't like coconut, but I have to say, it was...to die for!! What an outstanding meal!! We will definitely go back, and highly recommend it.

Another wonderful dining experience. As usual the food was delicious; the best in the area and worth every penny. The service was fast, attentive, and gracious. The bar is fun and the cocktails are tantalizing. Once inside the ambience is delightful. While you are on the Crystal Coast Kathryn's is a must.
I am only writing this so people know not to waste their money here. The food is high in price and very poor in quality and lack of flavor. The crab dip was flavorless and the crackers served with it were burnt. The crab cakes were nothing special especially not for $26. The Carolina Classic had more mushrooms than anything in the dish, which ruined the whole thing when all you could taste was mushrooms. The food is no where near worth the price of this place. The service was very poor and impersonal. We expected to go out for a nice dinner and have a good time, however the food and service ruined this. I would not return.
